Works great on thick hair,

The Conair SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Hairdryer is great for anyone who has thick hair that takes forever to dry. I am Latina so my hair is very dense and naturally curly. I tried out all the attachments and the one that works the best is the straightening double comb. I was able to dry my hair in half the time it normally takes. The hairdryer dried my hair straight but it did not leave it does not leave it in a smooth/polish look. I still had to use a flat iron for the finish look but it took less time than what I am used to. Tourmaline ceramic ionic technology smooths down cuticles to help reduce frizz and leave hair more manageable and easy to manage/style. The technology also reduces that static that we makes our hair stand up straight. At 1875 watts it is very powerful and has a very forceful air flow. However, I do wish it came with a medium heat setting since the low setting is not powerful enough and the high setting has too much power for bangs and the hair that frames the face. It is a little bit louder in the high setting mode, but don't worry you get use to it. It is lightweight and easy to hold. The swivel cord is a great feature, the cord does not get tangle up while switching hands or sides. Attachments/Features: Bristle styling brush attachment Wide tooth detangling comb attachment Double row Tourmaline Ceramic coated fine tooth straightening comb Easy to clean filter compartment Cool Shot button Overall, if you are looking for an affordable powerful hairdryer that dries your dry quickly and leaves it in a more manageable way for easier styling - the Infiniti SD8 by Conair is a great option.

Not Going Back to My Old Hair Dryers!,

This is my first "nozzle-less" dryer and I have to admit I won't be going back to my old fashioned hair dryer! The problem that I was having with the "7" shaped dryer is that it was heavy and unbalanced, sometimes even heavier on the nozzle end making my wrist hurt when drying my waist length hair. Depending on the brand of hair dryer, some nozzles were extra long and my hair would often get sucked into the dryer and I would have to painstakingly pull my hair out. This dryer solves a lot of my problems. It is a lot more ergonomically friendly and I would compare it to the feeling of holding a jumbo hair brush to my hair. No awkwardness whatsoever. Compared to my "7" shaped dryer, this is much lighter. I really love the fact that the electrical cord swivels in a circular 360 degree motion (not just rotates) and also is made to bend at the base so there are no tangles in the cord. It produces ions and even has an LED light at the top of the dryer to tell you that it's on...(although I'm not sure the whole ion thing is a little overrated). Because of the wide opening for air flow this dryer tends to not blow your hair all around like the regular nozzle does. You can get quite a bit of control of your hair styling with the dryer set on Hi which is great (no diffusing required)..the other nozzle dryers just blow your hair all over the place. This dryer would be 5 stars for me if the cool shot button would stay down when I push it. It creates a lot of fatigue on my hand (carpal tunnel) when I have to keep my finger on it while maneuvering the dryer at the same time. The control switch would be better if instead of the sliding up and down, they changed it to a toggle switch intead..that way I wouldn't have to stop what I was doing or use two hands to switch the speed. The air flow can get EXTREMELY hot...at 1875 watts it is equivalent to a lot of the other dryers out on the market. However, with a wider air flow, unlike the nozzle type dryers which direct hot air to a concentrated area, the wide air flow can direct hot air to a wider area and you start to get very hot and uncomfortable quickly as if you were standing in front of a heater. It effectively dries hair much more quickly but you have to keep the dryer moving to avoid feeling like you are on fire. My last suggestion would be for better attachments. This dryer comes with 3, but the teeth on each of the attachments are spaced so far apart that it is useless for me. The brush attachment doesn't do much to style my hair and the straightener and detangler requires a lot of effort on my part to keep my thin, straight, hair from slipping out of the attachment. Overall this was worth the price that I paid and a welcome addition to my beauty arsenal.

I have always dried my hair with a hairdryer and attached brush. Don't have the coordination to use a blow-dryer and round brush. Finding this type of hairdryer can be a challenge. This is wonderfully made - very lightweight yet powerful. I don't ever use the comb attachments, but the brush is perfect. I've cut my drying time in half. I should buy another and tuck it away!!

I am very lazy and never use hairdryer coz its so cumbersome. One of my friends suggested a styler, but I checked reviews and got this one. I just have one word for it "AWESOME". It took me just 10 minutes to dry and style my hair straight.I will strongly suggest this styler to anyone who is lazy to do their hair and want something simple, short and efficient.

I am an African-American woman with very curly hair (that is also very course in the back). This hair dryer is by far my favorite. It straightens and smooths, and it is a wonderful product. I have used mine for over 6 months and I still love it. After washing my hair with Mizani's Botanifying shampoo and conditioner, I then use Fantasia (IC) Hair Polisher/Heat Protector Serum and then use my hair dryer. My hair is so much healthier and I am very happy.

Works for This One-Handed Wonder!,

Having just gotten the hang of using a round brush and manipulating a dryer at the same time, it was a real problem when my left hand became completely paralyzed. I had a choice of trying to hang my regular dryer between my thumb and index finger - thus risking a concussion daily - or having an endless string of bad hair days. Since neither was an acceptable solution, I began looking for a workable alternative. After looking through the dryers/stylers that Amazon offered, I decided on the Infiniti SD8. Conair's Infiniti SD8 Styler met my needs and gave me the freedom to, once again, style my own hair. The 1875 watts provides quick drying, without burning. I use a semi-permanent color on my hair, so you know this dryer will dry without burning more delicate locks. I use the double comb attachment to begin drying and then switch to the brush attachment to finish styling. I do use a hot iron or hot brush to finish off the ends of my hair; they have a tendency to flip upward regardless of the method I use to style my hair. Again, this is an individual hair challenge, so if your hair cooperates with you most of the time this dryer/styler is a fine choice. The Infiniti's attachments are easy to put on and take off with one hand; that was a real plus for me. I do wish Conair had a brush with plastic bristles and ball tips available for this styler; that would make styling even easier and more closely akin to using a round brush and hand-held dryer. The dryer is a bit heavy, but not so much so as to cause me to down-grade it. It also takes a day or two to become accustomed to using it without feeling awkward. Those two factors should not deter you from purchasing this product if you are in need of a compact dryer/styler. I can definitely recommend the Conair Infiniti SD8 Styler for anyone needing a reasonably compact dryer/styler, whether you are a two-handed or, like me, a one-handed operator.

I have a hard time drying my hair straight using a brush in one hand and a hair dryer in the other so this product is a great alternative. I thought that this model would be better because of the double row comb attachment, but I still am using the brush because the comb attachment didn't work to completely straighten my hair, so I wish I would have bought the less expensive model since it has the same amount of watts. I have to buy one of these about once a year because I have very thick hair and after about 9 months the dryer has lost so much power that it takes much longer to dry my hair. I really like how simple this dryer makes it for me to dry my hair straight so I don't mind buying a dryer every year but I recommend getting the less expensive model if like me, you are only paying more to get the double row comb attachment.

I am biracial. Half black and half white. My hair is really thick and curly, but it has a texture more like caucasian hair. This blow dryer works amazing!!! I dry my hair when i get out of the shower and go over it with a straightener. It takes less than an hour

Doesn't straighten my hair completely, but dries quickly,

The design of the dryer is really unique; I haven't really seen a barrel-less one before. As it turns out, I prefer it. It doesn't blow my hair everywhere (I have medium, curly hair) which cuts down on the frizziness, lessens heat blown into my face and controls it better for styling, and it cut my drying time by at least 5 minutes. It's still somewhat loud, but not nearly as awkward to hold since it's like a big hairbrush. Traditional dryers with a concentration attachment left me grappling with a round brush to style it properly, and this dryer eliminated that need.By using the straightening attachment, I can get away with having my hair unironed; it just looks really thick and wavy, which is a nice change and appearance-acceptable time saver, though I was hoping it would be straighter. It saves my ironing time as well; by not starting out with my hair curly, my straightening time went from 40 minutes to about 15-20. I don't really use the other two attachments, although I can see how some would find them useful. My mother tried this dryer and really liked how it dried as well, and her hair is fairly straight naturally. I would definitely recommend this dryer for most hair types.

I'm native african with very coarse, very dry, thick, 4b relaxed hair. I was looking for a product that would allow me to text-lax my hair (partially straighten) and be able to perm my hair once every 4 to 5 months. This dryer with the straightener comb is exactly what i needed. My hair drys very fast (past my shoulder length hair dries in about 10 -15 minutes) and now i can manage and comb my hair with less breaking. I wish i knew this existed 2 years ago! My hair would have been much longer by now. it churns out a bit of heat but it doesn't leave my hair frizzy at all not does it leave my hair overly dry and crunchy like regular dryers. Its a little awkward to use at first but you get used to it after a while.
