Oscar d'Leon pone una salsa solida en este disco. Hay un par de boleros en el disco tambien, y la segunda cancion, la mazucamba, tiene un ritmo differente pero sabor parecido a la salsa. A mi no me gustan los boleros, pero encontre el resto tenia un buen ritmo y sabor consistente con la calidad de Oscar d'Leon.

I am not a traditionalist in any sense of the word; I love when an artist can take a different or modern twist on things. Case in point: Nuevo Latino cuisine. Ozomatli. Talvin Singh. But a crossover album is a tough thing to pull off. This album is in my opinion an example of yet another artist trying to bring his music up-to-date, something I've noticed in many salsa albums that have come out this year. I have half a dozen D'Leon albums and I like them all. He consistently produces truly good, danceable, pure salsa. This album has some of that straight up salsa, though not necessarily his best work, and then you have some songs puncturing the whole effort. Stuff that makes you wonder, what's goin' on here! Track 2 (which you can listen to) is a hectic track akin to something I listened to in high school, lacking a degree of maturity which is surprising if you're familiar with D'Leon's work. Track 4 is a curious cha-cha track, track 6 is a slow slow romantic bolero, and track 8... Is that cumbia?? Anyhow, if you're looking for danceable salsa try one of D'Leon's other albums.

I love Oscar D'Leon..this cd makes you want to get up and dance. I don't like every song on the cd but all in all, it's a great cd.. My favorite is definitely track 2 "La Mazucamba", it has a little bit of everthing going on in that song...salsa, calypso, reggae...perfect song...tracks 3,5,7 are also great and the end of track 1...I have not been privileged to listen to salsa growing up, but I have to say Oscar D'Leon is a genius. On top of the fact that he has a great voice to boot....I hope he keeps it coming!!
