E&B not an authorized Infinity dealer, Mfgr. warranty is void,
By TonyNY (NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Infinity 609CS 270W (Peak) 6-1/2 x 6-3/4 Two-Way Component System Speakers (Pair) (Electronics)
This product had a tweeter stop working for me a short while into the warranty period. I called Infinity corp. and they stated that I had to make a claim through the dealer I bought the system from, in this case it was E & B Electronics. As ridiculous as this sounds I tried it. The guy that answered the phone at E&B told me there is no way they will stand behind the product I bought from them. Then the guy actually tells me "We are not even an authorized dealer, we are just a store that sells a lot of different stuff." UNBELEIVABLE!! Did you know that Amazon apparently sells (through third-party partners like E&B Electronics) grey-market electronics, for which the manufacturer will not honor the stated warranty? I would not have believed this. When Amazon customer assistance did a three way call (which amazon wisely recorded) with me quietly listening to try to resolve this with the dealer, they ranted on at the Amazon representative, and told him to not "even to try to get a word in edgewise, because I can go on like this all day", then he abruptly hung up. The Amazon representative was as shocked at this display of unprofessional treatment towards the company that directs thousands of dollars of sales to them as I was.
In closing, I would highly recommend nobody buy any Infinity product from E&B Electronics as the warranty is not valid, and you will have no recourse if anything goes wrong with your expensive purchase. Stay away from these two companies.

Simply put, I have been a home/car audio enthusiast (installer/tinkerer/builder, etc.)for many years. I have used all good brands and they all have their strengths. The strength of these Kappa components is that they are ACCURATE! In other words, their strength is that they have no weaknesses. When a speaker is accurate, you can do anything you wish to tailor it to your ears. Some say the Kappas are harsh with highs. You can attenuate highs in a multitude of ways (one way is to lessen the high frequency volume with a button on the crossover)but you CAN'T make an inferior tweeter reproduce the symbols, for example, because they are "soft." In other words, you cannot make an inaccurate, softer signal more accurate, but you can make an accurate, "harsh" tweeter sound softer and still be accurate (have all the musical ingredients reproduced)! So, overall, if the music has punch, these reproduce it. If music has extraordinary detail, these reproduce it. If your system is crap, these reproduce that, too! So if your sound from these is bad, check your deck, your amp, speaker placement, etc, and forget suspecting these speakers. GET THEM.

60.9cs Install Comments,
This review is from: Infinity 609CS 270W (Peak) 6-1/2 x 6-3/4 Two-Way Component System Speakers (Pair) (Electronics)
Built a system for my 2002 Yukon XL, I know, ok call it a Suburban. Room was an issue as I wanted no loss of utility in the vehicle, I found this was a compromise. Power is everything to obtain transparent sound that does not distort at even relatively high volumes. I chose the Alpine PDX-5 for three reasons 1) it had five channels at sufficiently high wattage 2) was very small and would fit under the left rear seat and 3) gossip was that although the specs quote at loose < 1% THD it would be clean. As far as amps go, IMHO there is no such thing as too much power because you only use what the volume requires, it is that simple. The Alpine is a good amp and my selection of speakers helped the amp a bunch.
Chose two Infinity 60.9cs 2-way component systems sets with a pair in the front doors and a woofer in the rear door and its tweeter in the very back pillars. The Infinity's have a very high Sensitivity (93 db@1 watt@1meter), therefore they are very miserly when it comes to power. The rule of thumb is every 3 db increase in volume requires a doubling of wattage so they are way ahead of say a speaker with a sensitivity of say 87. They are crystal clear and indeed I hear stuff in the music I don't hear in other systems. The tweeters come with like (5) ways to mount them and the one that I love and worked for me was a threaded cylinder that has a mating basket that fits in it.. The cylinder permits varying the depth of the mount (out or into the plane) by inserting homemade spacers and the basket allows aiming the tweeter at what looks like up to 45 degrees! The tweeters I replaced up front are now directed right up to the front passengers, very powerful stuff. The speakers come with their associated passive crossovers. These things are clunky at best and I ended up putting a set under each rear seat. They could have been made with the corresponding components (for example the coil) being put with its driver (woofer) as an assembly which I would have liked. Regardless, they work very well as evidenced by the sound. For the bottom end I required a very shallow 8" for my factory sub box. Among the vast number of 8" out there (is there another?), I selected the Pioneer TS-SW841D. It turns out it is a feisty little guy and provides good bass down to 60 HZ, HUG. No really that is the 5 db down point in a closed box. It is way better than some 8" in open air in many a car. What I found that was very important was setting the Alpine's high- pass to the 60.9CSs to 75 hz and the sub low-pass to 75 hz. Otherwise there is a spike of bass that will give you a headache for sure. Later I plan to go with a Stealthbox but for now the 8 sounds just fine By the way, got a Pioneer DEH-P7200HD deck and media selection is phenomenal compared to factory. Need to use it for a while to be able to comment on usability.

this is my 1st set of infinity speakers, and i really like the way they sound in the front doors with a set of infinity 629i 6-1/2 in the rear doors. they sound crystal clear at all volumes, with crisp highs, and they have more bass than i would expect. i don't find the highs to be harsh as i've read in a few of their reviews.... either way, they came a couple days after i ordered them, and i had them installed and i've been enjoying them ever since. i am very satisfied with the product, and the ordering/delivery process. thank you amazon!

Infinity is a great product. I personally have found their speakers to be far superior to anything else out there. And the 2 ohm just kicks as*! Buy them. The price was great on amazon. Around a $100 cheaper than Crutchfield which is really no surprise. Discount Jungle was on it like skippy as far as shipping, awesome!

Installed these 60.9CS's in the front doors of my 2001 Yukon a few days ago, I like them very much. I'm using these with an Alpine CDE-124SXM HU and the KTP-445 45W RMS power pak. Plenty of sound with the 93-95 db sensitivity, great mids, a little harsh on the highs but I was able to make adjustments thru the HU to soften it. Seems like country music sounds fantastic on these speakers although I do rock, alt & country (in that order). Using the iPod connection I'm only going 15-17 out of 35 on the volume, topping out around 20 on the XM and tuner.Couple of installation tips - in the front doors of the Yukon you can do a surface mount on the tweeters on the factory tweeter enclosure with very minor modification to that panel, works well, can angle the tweets toward the front passengers. The tweeter wire connections are ri-gosh-darn-diculous (censored version), 18 ga wire seemed to work best with taping the wire to the tweeter enclosure for 100% strain relief - you don't want ANY load on that wire connection. And don't ever lose that allen wrench! I stuck the little XM antenna on the dash in the front windshield, all the way at the window, just routed about a foot of wire from the HU and coiled the rest up under the dash, reception is excellent and what few drops I get are comparable to my former OEM XM setup. Gotta give props to V&M Innovations (via Amazon), I purchased two sets of 60.9CS's and they arrived in just a couple of days - very prompt. But when I started installing the rear set with the woofers in the doors and the tweets in the rear cargo pillars, lets just say I bailed on rewiring thru the doors & cargo area, view wasn't worth the climb so to speak. V&M worked with me to return/exchange the 2nd set and I'll put some Infinity Reference coax's (93-95 dba sensitivity) in the rear - not the same caliber as the 60.9SC's but good enough for my setup and should compliment the component set.

These speakers sound fantastic in the doors of my 2004 GMC Sierra. The highs are crisp and the mid-ranges are wonderfully solid. I'm someone who doesn't care for a lot of highs in my music so I enabled the 6db attentuation on the crossovers for these, resulting in softer highs that suit my listening perfectly. I'd order these again if I were installing into a different truck.

These speakers are worlds better than my stock, and much better then next step down coaxel Infinity speaker. The first ride I took after installing these in the front of my car they surprised me, the song playing had some sounds of a car slamming on its breaks it sounded almost too real. Very clear speaker, the only complaint I have is you have to find a place to mount the crossover but they look nice so you could show them off if you wanted. Would defiantly buy these again and still might add them to the rear, but they sound strong enough just in the front.
I have them installed with a Kenwood head unit, and a 4 chan/400 watt Alpine amp.
