Infinity Classia C336 Reviewed,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Infinity Classia C336BK Three-Way Speaker (High Gloss Black, Each) (Electronics)
The Infinity Classia C336 is rather soft on the eyes with elegent lines and finishes, well constructed in a Far East Communist country like most and might I add a great value at their current market price. However, one should go into this relationship with knowledge of your new life partner. The sound crossover is front biased while great for home cinema I did not like my pair for soft music. I still like those old silk-dome tweeters for my music. This is a large speaker pair and all that sound needs a big room as they could open up quite well with vivid imaging, 3-way sound seperation was also there with deep mid-range. I expected more low end punch however from six 6.5inch woofers so some dynamic range was absent. You will want a subwoofer. I did not bi-wire but did use a new Harman/Kardon 3490 receiver with great power and dynamic movement. I even have an equalizer but the high end remained strong and clear. I remember Infinity as a smooth and natural speaker. This new model was just too gleeful for me. I listen to more music and watch few new action movies. I therefore will remained committed to a two-channel dimension. If you have multi-channel needs you might think about the Classia series.

CLASSIC act from my CLASSIA'S,

I absolutely love my Classia C336BK Speakers. The speakers are very elegant in styling, not to mention their dynamic sounds. After listening to a CD that I had listened to in the past,I was amazed to hear naturally, crisp, fine tunes, that I hadn't heard before. The bass was not at all overpowering and the mids and highs were on point. It is important to note that you must position the speakers close to the wall to emit more bass or further away from the wall to emit more highs/midrange. All of this depends on an individuals listening/discerning taste. Did I mention that I love my speakers? Well I do! and I will be ordering the bass (woofer), center, and bookcase speakers as well, in-fact I just did..Ohhh and I ordered the R>A>B>O>S kit (can't wait to try it out). GREAT price Amazon.. Got my DENON4310 cued up and ready and soon my other Infinity speakers will arrive, can't wait to put my gear to the ultimate test.

I've always been a big fan of Infinity home and car audio. When their product lines have been around for a while or go discontinued the value becomes amazing. People have been saying the Classia line was $4K when originally released (I'm assuming that was for the full 5.1 setup.) That's a decent deal but they definitely have competitors like MK, Focal and others at that price point. I've been watching the prices fluctuate on these babies for a while and I decided to grab them at $280 a piece shipped before they became unavailable. At that price I just couldn't resist.I'd been running some older entry level Infinities which were not really getting the job done. My main focus is on music and they proved to be peaky and certainly didn't have the bass support needed to form a proper soundstage. This was exacerbated by the poor acoustics of my square living room and being forced to have the sub behind the couch. I was ecstatic to find all of these problems minimized or eliminated by these towers. The best thing about this set is evenness and clarity. Moving from the peaky old Infinities to these was like night and day. While listening to these speakers you get the feeling that you're hearing the music exactly the way it was intended to be heard when mixed. Instruments and vocals are in their proper places and due to the clarity of the drivers sublime nuance is exposed. I've had quite a few sets of Infinity speakers over the years and on a couple of them the tweeters have been too bright for my tastes. Fortunately these Classias are extremely well balanced, sweet and smooth, never harsh to the ear. Some of the reviews say the Classia towers are too bass heavy when placed too close to the wall. In my personal experience I didn't find this to be the case. In fact I was hoping for a bit more frequency response on the low end however these speakers were designed to be used with the Classia subwoofer. I previewed them for a while without the sub to see what they could do. While they won't knock your house down like an old pair of Cerwin-Vega 15" floor monsters or the like, the bass they do provide is extremely tight and pleasantly articulate. Keep in mind I am also a bass freak so many people will probably prefer them just as they are. They still have more than enough bass to get you in trouble if you live in an apartment. On the other hand if you're the type of person who listens to music with very low bass or just wants the "Jurassic Park" effect when watching movies you will need to get the sub too. On a side note I think having the port high on the back of the speaker rather than low is a great design. When you're in a sitting position the port is right about ear level. It's hard to tell how much difference it makes because my previous speakers were sealed but it seems to help and the midbass sounds great. At the end of the day I haven't come across a comparable pair of speakers within $300 of this price point.

I'm not audiophile so it's difficult to say how these compare to what some would consider the best but for the money (at the moment), I don't think you can find a better speaker system. I ordered all three fronts (C, FL, FR) from Electronic Expo (an Amazon seller) directly through them and was able to get them for $691 but they refunded me the shipping charges ($99, so just under $600) because of some very minor cosmetic damage to one speaker grill that occurred during shipping. I also picked up the Classia Sub and two Classia bookshelves (for rear surround)for another $600 here at Amazon. In total, the complete 5.1 Classia speaker system set me back a little under $1,200. Not bad for a speaker system that once retailed at over $4,000. The price and the fact that there were some very positive online reviews, dating back when they still sold for four grand, is what sold me on these. I'm sure there's better stuff out there but for the price, it's hard to imagine you can get anything better. As far as the sound, they say that can be subjective but they sound great to me. The sound is full and dynamic. Excellent highs, mids, and lows. The sub really shines with movies, obviously. It's got nice tight and deep bass, plus the wireless is a nice feature. You still need power put the fact that you don't need to route your sub cable anywhere makes it easier to place anywhere where there's a power outlet. The looks and build quality are top notch as well. All the speakers have gold binding post and the floor speaker(s) can be bi-amped or bi-wired to bring out their full potential. I must say that I don't notice to much of a difference with having them bi-amped. There may be a little more bass but it's nothing else is all that noticeable. All the speakers are pretty heavy and very sturdy, which to me indicate their high quality. Another thing that stands out is the looks. They look very elegant and even though they're big, they blend in nicely with any home decor. All in all for what they're going for online at the moment, I would definitely recommend them.

Bought these c336 to make another 7.1 speaker system for card room. I have Canton ergo speakers for living room that didnt arrive as well packaged for freight as were these infinities. Didnt want anything too cheap because I like to listen to music. Got them on a gold box deal for 249 per single speaker. I dont think you are going to find better all purpose speakers than these for under 700$. I noticed improved audio quality for movies over the book shelf speakers I was using as front L and R. This is not surprising because this is a larger (but very stable) speaker with multiple woofers etc. Also sounds good for music. Sounds like it has a very good tweeter.I am not a rag picker so used speakers are out of the question. Comparing to the Polk line which I listened to extensively you have to purchase the RTIA7 (Not RTI but RTIA7) or > to exceed what you get in these infinities. Those Polks will cost 900$. Its an economic decision. These c336s are the option if your price point is 500, or get a better speaker costing 800-900. Just make sure you are actually getting better cause there are a lot of fancy named speakers that really arent that exceptional.

I bought these speakers after several months of research, reading reviews and going to several brick and mortar shops to listen to demo.In the end I got cheap and went for the hot deal here on Amazon. All I can say is that for the money you are going to be hard pressed to find set speakers that will outperform these. The frustrating part is that they keep getting cheaper! The rear dipoles are finally available, I want them to finish out the 7.2! All in all I am very happy with these speakers.

Received this pair of speakers via Amazon. They're much bigger than I thought but the sound out of these is amazing! I'd consider purchasing a separate powered subwoofer with these towers as they don't quite have the bass response I was used to from my old pair of speakers. I'd highly recommend this pair of speakers over comparable models in the $500/speaker price range.

I did some measurements of these speakers: [...]For this kind of money, these are flat out excellent. Not much else to say about them really. They do all the audiophile buzzwords at an extremely low price and high build quality. Maybe they are not perfect--no speaker is--but they are darn good. Dynamics, solid bass, even treble... what's not to like? |
