5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, December 25, 1999
This review is from: Infinity (Audio CD)
I know this has been said millions of times and i don't mean to sound repetitious, but. . . . .TOWNSEND IS GOD! This album is unlike anything I've heard. It's basically a mixture of Ocean Machine and SYL and it works! It's what Jesus Christ Superstar would sound like if it was done by a metal musician. Infinity, like Devin's past works, has many, many cheesy bits thrown in. Unfortunately, at times, the songs are plagued by poor production and the songs "soul Driven", "war", and "Dynamics" have melodrama that I can easily do with out. But, alas, if you're a devy-worshipper, i suggest checking this out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Brilliant, October 6, 1999

This man is a musical genius. It is probably my favortie record of all time, and one should also check out his Strapping Young Lad and Ocean Machine (Amazing as well). All I can say is it is musical extasy and is well worth the cash.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best album of the 1990s., July 31, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Infinity (Audio CD)
My opinion of the music industry is poorer than ever after hearing Infinity. I got into Devin's last album, Biomech, before I knew anything about him. I was very excited by it, and I thought it would be a huge hit. Instead, I have heard virtually nothing about it in the mainstream press, and I've never met anyone (except on the net) who had even heard of it. Then along comes Infinity, which, though much different fom its predecessor, improves upon it in every way. And still zero recognition from the mainstream media. I am convinced Infinity is one of the best albums of the decade; it is certainly my favourite. I only wish Devin could had the time and money to make it as long as he wanted to, as it only goes for 45 minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, December 10, 2000
This review is from: Infinity (Audio CD)
Well. With Biomech, his most mellow production so far, he took me. Now, there is Infinity. While Biomech is a gigantic wonderfull wall of sound, Infinity spotlights on Devins creativity. Here you find more different ideas. It seems a bit harder than biomech in parts, but nobody should be afraid, thinking it would be heavy metal. Biomech was 70 min, while Infinity runs about 45 min, but in that 45 min you hear at least as much as on Biomech. Because it's full of sheer pure Devin creativity you likely newer heard anywhere before. So, describing the style is as impossible as useless, I think. To make it very simple: If you like rock, and hard rock, and like creativity (Vai, Zappa, ...), then you should give it a try. Of course Infinty can't be reduced to the mentioned characteristics, but, I really do not know anything I could compare it to. ....

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure genius, August 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Infinity (Audio CD)
Oh, wow! This blew me away! I actually got all of these on mp3's, except for colonel boy, and I listen to them all the time. Just like I said, I got them for free on mp3, but if I knew it was this good, I would be happy to pay $30 for it. Devin Townsend is a freaky, psychopathic, schizophrenic genius. He is truly a great songwriter--just look at this, Ocean Machine's cd, and Strapping Young Lad's cd's. That's good stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Weird Devin CD, March 19, 2002
This review is from: Infinity (Audio CD)
Well, after the seriousness of SYL & Ocean Machine, Devin decided to make a record, more diverse & shall we say, fun & wacky?? Infinity was the result:
1. Truth - Possibly, one of the best opening songs ever, the music is powerful & the vocals are angelic & very melodic, amazing sound - 5/5
2. Christeen - A good old rock song, with the romantic touch changed by Devin, the end of the song gets more aggressive, just great - 4/5
3. Bad Devil - A strange song, a live favourite, a GREAT song, the evil monster verse part is funny & the female vocals leading into the chorus add even more uniqueness to this song, simply outstanding - 5/5
4. War - A longer song than usually on this CD, it is quite a normal song until he starts to sing "it's white noise" for about 2 mins, then it just goes mental - 4/5
5. Soul Driven - A song that doesn't really go anywhere, until the end that leads into the next song
6. Ants - The short burst of chaos on the CD, the intro sounds like The Dillinger Escape Plan, then the music & singing turn into a Chipmunk type affair, very strange but very appealing - 4/5
7. Colonial Boy - This song sounds majestic, very creative & epic sounding, all in 3 mins, amazing - 5/5
8. Dynamics - This song is a typical Devin song, until the chorus hits, then it sounds like God himself starts to do the music, HUGE sound, simply amazing, not a song quite like it - 5/5
9. Unity - Definently a ending song, not much to it, kinda like Elevator music, good ending - 3/5
10. Noisy Pink Bubbles - Not sure if this is song 10 or a bonus, but it is a good song none the less, David Bowie kind of sound - 4/5

Overall, this CD is 5/5, once again, he changes his musical taste, to the more unique & strange kind this time
