A follow up to Owens's Infinity Express, "Uncle Shelby and the Pirates" continues the adventures of McCall as he once again journeys through time, encountering actual historical figures along his journeys. Owens has done great research to find fascinating, but sometimes little known, characters from history, and draws his readers in by incorporating factual information about them into his story, in a storyscape that boggles the mind with the intricate details of how it is woven. He does an amazing job of keeping with the facts, conjuring up fantastical images with his imagination, and telling a great story all at the same time. A must read for all fans of time travel, science fiction, and historical fiction!
