Internet dating has a stigma attached to it, yet thousands of people try it everyday. Everyone is looking for someone special to share the rest of his or her lives. Doesn¡¯t everyone deserve that chance¡to feel love, to give love and to receive love? This book of poetry rides you through a journey about love searched and found on the Internet. A miraculous view of how two distant souls met, connected, and bonded through email. Through this journey, many will realize that dating from the Internet is just a mere tool, an electronic bridge that connects souls to souls.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, I was educated in DC Public High Schools. Big ups to DCPS! After graduating from Woodrow Wilson Senior High School in 1989 (WHOO HOO 20 years - I don't even look that old!) I moved to Los Angeles for a spell. I was 18/19 at the time. I just ran amuck, like a typical young adult. Didn't like L.A. to much. Now that think back on it, it was too much freedom for an 18/19 year old. An adult in the minds of the law, but still a child when came to my thoughts and actions. So I decided to head up and return to the East coast. Got my self together working that 9 to 6 (I wish it was to 5, but we had a unpaid 1 hour lunch break.), at the Roots Activity Learning Center, an independent African-centered school, as an administrative assistant.
While at Roots, I worked tirelessly on my undergraduate degree, first at Montgomery College then transferring to the University of Maryland University College. That was a long nine years. But I did graduate from UMUC in May 2000 with a Bachelors of Science. I majored in Management, minored in Behavioral and Social Sciences. Hey, I am also real smart - so smart I became a member of the Tau Chapter, Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society in 1999 holding down a 4.0 GPA. I was on the Deans List at both Montgomery College and University of Maryland University College. (But as silly as I am, you probably would not guess I am that smart. TOOT TOOT)
In 1997, I had my first baby. A daughter, 12 and is taking me through the ringer in trying to teach her time management and good organizational skills. But she is a repeated honor roll student offender. :-)
In 1998, I came up with the name ZETAZEN as my internet handle. Before long I was known as just Zeta or Z. I've written lots of poetry under the ZETAZEN pen name. [In 2001, I co-wrote my poetry book Infinity: A Journey Through Love - a collection of sappy love poems between myself and youngest daughter's dad. Awww they weren't that sappy at the time. It was pure love.]
After obtaining my degree and soaring as high as I could at Roots, (Office Manager), (haha at SOARING, if that's what I want to call it) I entered into a sweet deal with the Federal government. I was hired under the Outstanding Scholar Program (now defunct because the program has been reworked - that was nine years ago) for recent college graduates with a G.P.A. of 3.4 and higher. I entered the Feds working as a Human Resources Specialist specializing in Classification; not that means anything to anyone, but it it was foundation for learning HR Management for the government. Now I do something different in the Federal government...still in HRM...just more strategic - Strategic Human Capital Management.
In 2002, I had another baby. Another daughter, 7 and she is taking me through the ringer in trying to get her to understand that she doesn't get the last word. I do. lol :-)
Since 2000, I have completed a dual graduate degree program at the University of Maryland University College. I have a Master of Science in Management (specializing in Human Resources Management), 2003 and a MBA, 2004.
In order to pursue my passion in writing, I felt I needed a formal foundation. I obtained my third Master degree, a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (2009) from National University. I specialized in screenwriting.
I have completed three screenplays - IN THE ZONE, Church Chick, and Crofton Triangle. Crofton Triangle was my thesis for school. I NEED AN AGENT! And a MANAGER! lol :-)
So this is me, Michelle R Sweeny and ZETAZEN. Some people know me as Michelle others as Zeta. Whatever you know me as, I hope you enjoy my piece of the internet.
