Decent surround speaker
on September 27, 2014
They come in one box with what's in it all over, even a big pix of it.So beware if it's gonna be sitting on your doorstep. Unfortunately one had a bad tweeter some how. The box was undamaged. I put these toe to toe to my Jbl loft 30s .Conclusion is they are exactly the same speaker , the jbl wins for a little more base is all.
I thought with the cover off they looked cool,on the internet anyway. In reality they are a shade darker than battle ship grey. The other part looks like galvanized steel. The screws yet another color,brown/black/ green swamp moss perhaps. Not so purty. No fun there. Cover on they are more stylish than the jbls minimalist look. I like to listen to all channel stereo and neither cuts it really, sound good but does not travel far at all.
Surround effects are stronger so they do fine for movies. I ordered the p153s and they are way better. If I was gonna hang these I'ld use pix wire tied to the two brackets. That way one screw/one stud and no worries, and no wall anchors (hate those). The jbls smartly only have one heavy duty one.
The efficiency on these is bad, forget about any low level listening. I use 16 g pure copper wires on all,25 ft run is the longest. With posts screwed all the way down , use a punch or big nail to gently hit the covers open , then pry out with the nail.If you want banana plugs.
