Monster center channel,

This review is from: Infinity Primus PC350 3 Way Dual 5.25 Center (Sold Individually) (Office Product)
I just added this speaker to my existing infinity 252 fronts, I broke it in over night and let it warm up and it paid off, great sounding, clear and clean with lots of detail. Actually it's maybe too detailed now that I can hear the audio mistakes in movies especially when bitstreaming dts ma audio. Off axis sound is also very good.
The speaker is also huge your going to need fronts that can stand up to it, this means little book shelf's are just not going to cut it anymore. The size also means your going to need a strong mount or similar to place it right. A must have if your using large floor standing front speakers. The only bad thing is it's going to make be buy the 362 towers and move the 252 as surrounds as the little book shelves I have sound out of place now.

Wow!,
This review is from: Infinity Primus PC350 3 Way Dual 5.25 Center (Sold Individually) (Office Product)
I recently needed to upgrade my HT speakers from what I thought was not a bad set at the time, a matched set of JBL's but a notch lower in cost.
I put the Infinity PC350 Center with P162's for the front L/L, and P152's for the rear and surround speakers. I have these on a fairly good Sony receiver, Panasonic Blu-Ray and Panasonic Plasma that make up the core of my HT system. I went with the Infinity P162's for the Front Left/Right as I knew little ones were not going to cut it with this, and I think the P162 is about as small as you would want to go. The good news is that all of the Infinity Primus series are voice matched so you are fairly free to mix and match what fits for you. Aside from this review I will just say that the P162's and P152's are stunning also! OK, on to the heart of the matter, how they sound. Well for me it was like getting a Home Thearer for the first time, the sound from this combination (with the Infinity Sub also) just knocks your socks off. After tuning them up for my room and system, then some preference tweeks, I put in one of my favorite "test movies", Top Gun and it was like seeing it for the first time, ummm, well like hearing it for the first time, new sounds I have never heard before were so nicely blended in that for the first time I fully appreciated the spirit of "surround" sound, I might call this enveloped sound... The PC350 itself is well balanced and has the hardware to deliver very solid mid-range and bass and the high end is just plain crisp. Nothing gets by this, so if there are any audio artifacts you will here them, this is not a bad thing. As the center, this speaker delivers voice that does not over power everything else for regular TV shows, it was amazing at how much clearer the dialoog was while the effects were blasting away, the PC350 deals with both very well. My only regret was not doing this a long time ago, had I not smoked my front left JBL on Halloween with my Rocky Horror Picture Show party I may have never found out, hard to know what you are missing with no reference and I am no audio pro by a long shot. For moderately priced speakers this would really be hard to beat.

This is the biggest, heaviest home center channel speaker I have seen..anywhere! After attempting to go small with a Polk then a bit larger with a Cerwin Vega and finding them both lacking in clarity and depth, I decided to rely on my "old-school" experience and get the size and weight required to properly move some air. I have 2 older Infinity bookshelfers from the 90's that sound as good as anything I have heard for home use. The aforementioned center channels were weak and muddy by comparison. In a word, unusable. I picked up this discontinued model for CHEAP here. IMHO the dual midrange configuration makes all the difference with respect to dialog as well as music. The 5 1/4" drivers are quite punchy and the HF tweeter is clean and clear without the nasty sizzle some lesser brands provide. I have a powered sub to handle the lows however the bass drivers in the speaker do a great job in projecting the natural mid-low resonance of dialog and any other sounds that fall within that spectrum. My hi def music channels are now a whole new experience as the mids of the 3 way system provide a noticeably smoother, more musical transition from the highs through the lows. To simplify, the treble does not need be maxed out due to the natural, warm tones projected by the dual midrange drivers. The sound of dialog actually sounds like people talking as opposed to a studio recording.
Infinity has made quite a reputation for thier efficiency, clarity and reliability at reasonable cost. This center is no exception. Just know this is one big and heavy speaker! I was pretty amazed at how actually big this thing is. It makes my 46" Sony Bravia look small (but not that small) as it sits on the mantle just below the mounted flat screen. It is easily twice the size of most center channel speakers out there. At over 30 pounds, be sure you have a sturdy place to mount this monster as well. If you have really efficient and clean sounding L/R side speakers such as JBL or Infinity, space is not an issue, don't want to spend over 150 and you want the biggest bang for your buck (literally!), this is the center to tie it all together. Looks great with the grill on or off.
