Great Sound in a Small Package,

This review is from: Infinity Reference 8-Inch 1,000-Watt High-Performance Subwoofer (Single Voice Coil) (Electronics)
I own a 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder. I recently changed the stock system to the Infinity Reference 6020CS component speaker with the Reference 475a amp and a nice Kenwood head unit. The new speakers sounded good, but lacked clarity below 80 Hz and trying to push the low end through them distorted the sound. I knew I needed a subwoofer, but since the Spyder has only two seats and almost no storage space, I had great difficulty finding one.
I bought this speaker because it was 8" and would match my main speaker since they are both Reference series. I had to build my own sealed enclosure due to the limited space available. I powered it with 150W from the 475a amp. Once connected the sub changed how my entire system worked and sounded. I set the crossovers to 80 Hz and now the main speakers sing. I can't distort the system even when the volume is loud enough to hurt my ears. The sub adds a tight, punchy low end. I've heard bass lines that I never heard before in songs that I've listened to for years. I expected that some of the sub-harmonic frequencies would not be handled as well since it is a small speaker. Typically 12" subs are used for booming bass. I was wrong. This sub handled them more than adequately. If you are trying to rattle your windows, this speaker may do the job, but you should probably go with a larger one. If you want an accurate sonic reproduction with a fast response and clear, crisp bass, this is your speaker. My car now sounds better than most home systems. A++

I put this sub in a .35 cu. ft. sealed box and I'm pushing it with 160 watts RMS and it sounds great. I compared this sub to many other 8" subs using various box designing apps. and this sub has the best low end roll off in a sealed enclosure than any others I could find. My friend says my sub is "barely legal" because of the high output in such a small setup.
If you are looking to compliment your system with quality bass, this sub is for you. To maximize the lower bass notes you will want a sub amp with a bass EQ centered around 40 to 45 Hz. I am pushing this sub with a Jensen Power 400 amp and it sounds great. I haven't found one song that sounds bad on this thing. (Rap, Rock, Etc.) I will try to upload some pics of this setup in an 04 Ram, standard cab.
