This review is from: Infinity Reference 8-Inch 1,000-Watt High-Performance Subwoofer (Single Voice Coil) (Electronics)
I own a 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder. I recently changed the stock system to the Infinity Reference 6020CS component speaker with the Reference 475a amp and a nice Kenwood head unit. The new speakers sounded good, but lacked clarity below 80 Hz and trying to push the low end through them distorted the sound. I knew I needed a subwoofer, but since the Spyder has only two seats and almost no storage space, I had great difficulty finding one.

I bought this speaker because it was 8" and would match my main speaker since they are both Reference series. I had to build my own sealed enclosure due to the limited space available. I powered it with 150W from the 475a amp. Once connected the sub changed how my entire system worked and sounded.

I set the crossovers to 80 Hz and now the main speakers sing. I can't distort the system even when the volume is loud enough to hurt my ears. The sub adds a tight, punchy low end. I've heard bass lines that I never heard before in songs that I've listened to for years.

I expected that some of the sub-harmonic frequencies would not be handled as well since it is a small speaker. Typically 12" subs are used for booming bass. I was wrong. This sub handled them more than adequately.

If you are trying to rattle your windows, this speaker may do the job, but you should probably go with a larger one. If you want an accurate sonic reproduction with a fast response and clear, crisp bass, this is your speaker. My car now sounds better than most home systems.

A++

I put this sub in a .35 cu. ft. sealed box and I'm pushing it with 160 watts RMS and it sounds great. I compared this sub to many other 8" subs using various box designing apps. and this sub has the best low end roll off in a sealed enclosure than any others I could find. My friend says my sub is "barely legal" because of the high output in such a small setup.

If you are looking to compliment your system with quality bass, this sub is for you. To maximize the lower bass notes you will want a sub amp with a bass EQ centered around 40 to 45 Hz. I am pushing this sub with a Jensen Power 400 amp and it sounds great. I haven't found one song that sounds bad on this thing. (Rap, Rock, Etc.)

I will try to upload some pics of this setup in an 04 Ram, standard cab.

5.0 out of 5 stars Infinity Reference 8" - Hi Quality As Usual, July 26, 2010

This review is from: Infinity Reference 8-Inch 1,000-Watt High-Performance Subwoofer (Single Voice Coil) (Electronics)
I had one single 8" Infinity Reference SVC sub running off of a REF 1300a mono channel amp. I bought a small sealed (non-vented) box to put the sub in because I wanted a crisp, hard-hitting sound and less boomy than ported or bandpass for the application. The cool things is, the box I used is about 9 liters which is TINY compared to most boxes, but this thing just POUNDED like you can't believe! I used to have 2 JL audio 10" in a bandpass box and it BOOOOMED like nobody's business but for this application I wanted CRISP & CLEAR. In actuality, I have BOTH. I also had Infinity Reference 3.5" in the dash & Infinity Reference 6"x9" in the rear deck; all 4 speakers being pushed by a REF 475a 4-channel amp. CLEAN AS A WHISTLE! You can't go wrong with Infinity!!! Just my 2 cents. ENJOY!

I bought this sub to Supplement a JL 8W3 which I was using in a custom fiberglass box in my BMW Z3. WoWW!!! I was blown away at the improvement in sound quality. This is a Superb 8" Sub. I'm buying an extra Infinity 8 to keep on reserve. I'm actually getting two Infinity's for the cost of my One JL8W3. GOOD JOB INFINITY!!!!! If you're looking for a great sounding 8"? This is the One. I listen to Alternative Rock, Hip Hop, Country... Really Everything.

This thing is ultimately hard as hell to blow. Thumps really good for an 8". I didnt think a 12 would fit in my single cab dodge ram so i bought this and am very pleased with the quality. Will buy infinity again.

These little woofers or should I say subs are powerful :) I really enjoy the pure sound. I am running 250 watts to each and the flex about an inch or more!!! I would recommend 10's or 12's if you want thunder but these cover a nice low range.

5.0 out of 5 stars MUCH BETTER THAN EXPECTED!!!, October 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Infinity Reference 8-Inch 1,000-Watt High-Performance Subwoofer (Single Voice Coil) (Electronics)
ALL I can say is WOW. These things sound superb!!! I am a little older now, but back in the day, I used to run 15's. Well these little babies hit hard!! I am running a 200 wt amp, and they sound refined, and probably hit harder than 10's and 12's from 15 years ago. If I have the stereo up, you can even hear them pounding outside of the vehicle, which I never ever expected 8's to do such a thing. For the money, the sound, and build quality, you really cant go wrong. I was not sure to go with these or the much more JL Audio's that were well over double the price, but in the end, I'm glad I chose these. GREAT PRODUCT!! And look good too!
