5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, Incredible, Incredible !!
I replaced two pair of Infinity Reference "shallow mount" 6.5" speakers with two pair of these components. Wow, wow, wow!! Simply powered by an Alpine head unit they transformed my car into a sound studio. Everyone writes about "hearing things in your music that you'd never heard before", but Man! Some live tracks (like Dave Matthews or John Meyer) you can hear people...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice mids and highs but not a lot of bass
Easily driven by factory radio or amp. Highs and Mids are way better then factory. However bass is just not there. Not nearly enough for my taste. Factory speakers produced significantly more. They are probably designed with a sub in mind which I do not think is the right approach. Nice stereo system should not need any subs. Just my opinion.

Some live tracks (like Dave Matthews or John Meyer) you can hear people in the audience coughing, or talking lightly. You can hear all the details as their fingers slide down a guitar string. Depths to the bass that I've never noticed. I've tried listening to entire songs and only paying attention to one instrument or background vocalist. They're incredible.

I ordered these at the same time as an Infinity 4x 75 watt amp, and almost didn't install it because it already sounded so good. After switching from head unit power, to a high-power amp, I noticed tighter bass, deeper reach, more punch, and higher volume levels before distortion (in fact, with the amp I can turn it up louder than I could possible stand without any break-up. With the head unit you could start to hear the bass clipping at higher levels.)

It's amazing the clarity and separation of each instrument. Infinity have really made a great product with the 6020. Go buy it and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sound Stage -- Crisp and Clean, May 30, 2008

This review is from: Infinity Reference 6020cs 6.5-Inch Two-Way Component System (Silver/Black) (Electronics)
Infinity has hit the mark with this component set. I installed them about a month ago, and I couldn't be happier. On first install, I wired the tweeters to the -3dB crossover connection to put a slight damper on the treble. After listening for a week, I changed the tweeters back to 0dB change for a more balanced sound. If you have a subwoofer, and you like bass, you will need all the tweeter you can get. If you do not have a subwoofer and amp, you may prefer a little less treble (use the -3dB). In either case, be sure to leave the crossover accessible for the first week or two, until you decide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Speakers, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Infinity Reference 6020cs 6.5-Inch Two-Way Component System (Silver/Black) (Electronics)
Once again Infinity has produced a quality speaker. I have owned many Infinity products and have yet to be dissapointed. Excellent sound characteristics, and range, 2ohm load helps if connected to factory head unit. There is a wide price range out these so shop around.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great clarity but a little bass shy, January 30, 2010

Bought these to replace the OEM speakers in my new car and they fit without any interference or machining needed.
Treble is really good - nice and clear with that shimmering effect treble should have to add atmosphere to the music while not being harsh or sibilant. Bass was a little bass shy. Perhaps it was my setup or head unit but the frequency response was not the fullest. I ended up having to add a subwoofer to fill in the lower bass and extend the lower mid-range. Once this was done, these speakers were fine.

Complaints about this set: token speaker wire given in the set so I had to make a separate purchase. This was particularly bad since it is a component speaker set with a separate cross-over. How the heck do you connect the speakers to the cross-over if the wire provided is so short that it can barely reach from one speaker, say the woofer, to the cross-over; then what's to be used for the tweeter????
Also no connectors are given to terminate the wires. The cross-over has screws to secure the wiring to it but each speaker has little spade lugs. No connectors are given so you must either make another separate purchase or you must solder the wire directly to the speaker's spade lugs.
So although the speakers themselves are good, the lack of accessories reek of token economy that only inconvenience and detract from their enjoyment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, January 24, 2010

The whole Reference Series line are simply great speakers.
I think they are great not because they sound good in my truck and are significantly better than the stock speakers - any after-market speaker will do that- but because they sounded great in A/B listening at my local car audio store. Within the constraints of my budget, these sounded more natural than anything else. They are driven off of a JVC HDR-20 HU and paired with the 6022 component set that is driven off an Alpine MRP-F300. For the money, the set-up is outstanding.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fits in an S2000 but requires expert installation, January 8, 2010

The included kit does not conform to the Honda S2000 doors speakers despite what the website states. I took these into Best Buy and they installed them for pretty cheap. They had to use custom brackets and then drill holes in the bracket (not door). But the speakers do fit in the narrow confines of the door. They sound great, but with the factory deck the vocals are subdued unless turned up to 22-28 (27 seems best). I will soon be installing a new deck and will update my review to reflect the changes with a higher power system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great speakers, September 29, 2009
This review is from: Infinity Reference 6020cs 6.5-Inch Two-Way Component System (Silver/Black) (Electronics)
The reviewer who said these lack bass is correct. I would only recommend these speakers to someone who is either going to be adding a subwoofer(150 - 300 watts will do nicely with these), or is not too concerned with thumping bass in general. The crossovers which are included do a great job in eliminating the low bass, this is by design, because no 6.5 inch speaker should be handling lows. The mid bass / mids / highs on these things are just spectacular. I originally had them hooked into the stock cd player in my 95 integra and they sucked power from that terrible head unit wonderfully. I since have amped them with a rockford prime 4x amp. PLEASE AMP THESE SPEAKERS, IT IS WELL WORTH THE $200 and 5 HOURS IT WILL COST YOU. Overall a great choice for anyone who wants to build an inexpensive, but premium, mid level system.

Bought 2 sets along with the 4 x 75 amp and installed the system in a 4 door Nissan pick-up truck. My family loves to go on road trips now. Bass is not over powering - just right for our family. Mids and highs are incredibly clear. Be sure to shop around ... I got the speakers for $109 per set.

I can't believe the clearness of sound on this component. I move them with a Rockford Fosgate Punch amp and it works amazingly.
