4.0 out of 5 stars Drop in fit for a hard to fit car!
I picked these up from Amazon.com on a suggestion that they were an easy fit into my 96 Subaru Legacy Outback, and boy was that an understatement! The included adapter ring looks to fit just about any car out there, and I was able to use the stock bracket without any modifications! A worthwhile investment if you need a 6.5" speaker, and have very little room to install...

3.0 out of 5 stars a little disappointed...but good for stock head unit
They are not bad speakers, but having heard better I'm spoiled. My ears noticed sound distortion and lack in the fullness of the frequency response spectrum. I was running them off an Alpine mrp-f300 amp running at about 50rms per channel. If you're just looking to upgrade your stock speakers and run them off the stock head unit, then they are the way to go. If you're...

I am pleasantly surprised by the audio quality for such a shallow speaker, so all in all, a worthwhile investment!

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent for price, January 9, 2011

I bought 4 of these as a replacement for the blown infinity speakers in my 02 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. Overall sound is decent. I don't think they are as clear and defined in the bass region as the original speakers that were installed, but for the price they work for me. The plastic adapters that came with them fit into the plastic receptacles from the original speakers. I cut the original connectors off and installed new slide on type connectors to connect to the new speakers. Overall, I would buy again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied, December 5, 2009

Short sweet and to the point. These babies are excellent for the price, around 65 on Amazon way lower than Crutchfield. I hooked them up to a Sony Deck with 52 watts per channel and they perform beautifully. The highs are crisp and the lows are clear. Of course they don't handle bass too well but that's why one needs a sub. It's been my personal experience that if I, need a set of speakers for any application I will just go with Infinity. I have never been disappointed and always very pleased.

Thanks

5.0 out of 5 stars Infinity Reference Speakers, October 10, 2011

I'm more than satisfied with these Infinity Reference speakers. I installed them in the front doors of my '02 Chrysler 300M to replace the ones that had torn suspension material and they completely tranformed the sound! The tweeters serve no purpose because the cross-over unit on my amp doesn't allow the high frequencies to get through but the mid and low frequencies complement my rear drivers.

Awesome Speakers for the Price and a direct replacement to my worn out 2003 Dodge Durrango Infinity System.

The Adapter Plates are in the Carton, Sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard.

Purchased these speakers to replace the ones on my front door of a 2001 Chrysler 300M. The existing speakers were cracking around the edges causing buzzing. These speakers go in very easily. I removed the existing speakers, used the adapter that came with the new speakers, and used the original 3 screws from the old speakers to screw in the adapter. Cut off the plug from the old speaker wiring and wired that to the new speakers. Put a spot of solder on it but wrapping it would probably work. I then installed the new speakers. I did have to use 4 small screws (not provided)for each speaker to mount the new speaker to the adapter. I'm sure these are not concert hall speakers but the sound is perfectly suited for my radio and CD player while driving. These probably work on the rear doors as well but those are still in good shape for me.

Great replacements for my 2001 Dodge Durango OEM door panel speakers. No screws included, but easy to install if you have a variety of screws on hand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent replacement speakers, May 17, 2011

I installed these speakers by myself in the front doors of my 2007 Subaru Forester. I have a lot of experience installing car stereos and speakers; this pair were a replacement for some entry-level 6.5 inch Pioneer speakers I had installed 3 years ago. After installing one of the speakers, I tested it and compared it to the Pioneer in the opposite door by adjusting the balance back and forth. The mids and highs from this speaker are remarkable given that they are only about $50. To get proper bass I had to spend some time tweaking the settings on the head unit, as I will describe below. Installation was relatively easy. Infinity supplies an adaptor ring, which helped a lot. Make sure you have an assortment of machine screws, as the ones supplied will not be enough to do the job.

Some people have complained that these speakers do not handle bass well. 6.5 inch coaxial speakers that do a great job of reproducing deep bass frequencies at high volume do not exist in this world. If you want pounding bass, you will need to buy a subwoofer. It's that simple. I managed to coax ample bass from these speakers by spending 1 hour adjusting the levels in my Pioneer head unit. First, I set the high pass filter to 63Hz (since these speakers cannot handle frequencies below 60 anyways). I adjusted the equalizer to +2 (low), +2 (mid) and +5 (high). I also also adjusted various sound curves because certain high-bass frequencies (between 100 and 150Hz) were being dropped. I also experimented with the bass boost settings and loudness settings. Yes, this took at least one hour but it was worth it. I can now hear all the notes in my music, and deep bass is no longer distorted. I should also mention that you need to install these correctly. Use the gaskets provided to get a good seal between the speaker and the door. This step is critical. It is also important to properly secure the speaker to the door so it does not rattle. Overall, if you are willing to spend the time installing these speakers properly and have some patience, these speakers are a good buy and will perform as advertised.

If you're just looking to upgrade your stock speakers and run them off the stock head unit, then they are the way to go. If you're planning on getting a decent amp and head unit, then invest more in your speakers and go for a good set of ~200$ components like polk audio db6501 or mm6501.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great improvement., February 13, 2012

I replaced the stock speakers in the front doors of a Honda Ridgeline with base trim level (no upgraded stereo). Definitely need to use a standoff ring or some parts from the stock speaker mount. The frame is too big to just sit against the inner door skin. I'm only feeding the speakers with a Kenwood head unit (around 15W RMS per channel) using the stock wiring. No easy way to pull new wire through the doors which use a multi-pin plug rather than a rubber boot with continuous wires from door to cabin. 2 ohm resistance really helps with the restrictive wire and low power. If I wanted to add a sub and amplify the system, the speakers are more than ready. Back doors have the same speakers in the standard depth version. Love Infinity Reference series except would really love a terminal block on the speaker or a pigtail of wire to allow soldering away from the body of the speaker. Scary stuff for an amateur like myself. Never had a bad Infinity speaker.
