5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome speakers, great price, June 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Infinity Reference 6830cs 6 x 8/5 x 7-Inch, 270-Watt High Performance Two-Way Component System (Pair) (Electronics)
These speakers are great. I put them in the front doors of '05 F-150 Supercab. The bass response, while not booming, is far better than stock, even with the factory head unit. I'm sure when a quality HU is installed, they're gonna be even more impressive. Install was straight forward and easy. Took very little enginuity on my part to make the tweeters work in the factory tweeter holes in the front door panels. Opened the holes just a touch, then mounted using the "Starfish"? system that is included. Couple of crimp on connectors and they sound great. Seller was on-time and delivered a great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, March 11, 2011

I put these in my 2008 F150 King Ranch Super Crew. I just replaced my factory nav unit with the new Kenwood DNX6960. I put these in the front and with a little tweaking the tweeter fit in the factory location. These absolutely rock my truck. I have a 4 channel Kenwood amp KAC-8405 driving the 6830's in the front and the 6832's in the rear and my factory sub sounds better than ever. Anyone with a Ford F150 considering these buy them. Crutchfield has them for 199.00 so save 100.00 and by them from Amazon.

I bought these for my 2004 ford f-150 super crew. I run a Pioneer head unit, JL audio 300W X 4 Amplifier. They rock loud and clear. I am very happy with the sound. The only down side to the speakers was I had to make a small modification to the factory hole in the front doors where the tweeter goes in. It's not a perfect fit. Without modification the grill panel for the door will not fit back on without smashing the cone of the tweeter a bit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great clean sound!, January 16, 2012

This review is from: Infinity Reference 6830cs 6 x 8/5 x 7-Inch, 270-Watt High Performance Two-Way Component System (Pair) (Electronics)
I bought these to replace stock front door speakers on 2007 F-150 Supercrew. Had to do some minor cutting to place tweeters in the doors. The tweeter gives you a great clean sound. I have them hooked up to Kenwood KAC-8405 4 channel amp. Also using Kenwood KDC-BT945U head unit. Reference series sounds great, I have Kappa series in back doors. The speakers are being pushed by the amp. Not sure how they would sound being pushed just by the head unit or by the stock radio.

NOTE: Don't expect booming bass. I tried using the bass boost on the amp but it would just constantly distort when I would try to play loud. Speakers do a pretty decent job for kick bass like rock music.

Overall, the speakers are performing great. I will be using them for highs when I add the subwoofer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Sound, January 12, 2011

Installed in a '05 Ford F-150 S-cab with out Factory Amp.
Easy to install the woofer, was an exact match, and on the tweeter I used an 1-3/4" hole saw bit and a file the make that an exact match the crossover i used double sided tape (will see it this will hold).
The sound is so much better than stock it not even funny I do wish it would give a little more bass (still more than stock) but one probably need an Amp for that, the highs on the other hand are fantastic, sounds in the songs I've never heard before.
Will install an amp and a new head unit later and will revise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Upgrade for 2006 F150 Supercrew, February 23, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Infinity Reference 6830cs 6 x 8/5 x 7-Inch, 270-Watt High Performance Two-Way Component System (Pair) (Electronics)
Just upgraded from the stock speakers, WOW what a difference. Stock speakers were "dual cone" (not even a coax) paper cone speakers. Put these in with the tweeters in the "factory location" (Some models of the F150's may have had tweeters?). Gone are the days where you need a separate amp to run a component set, these pull it off w/o an amp. Of course if you are hard core into audio gear an amp + subwoofer would improve the sound. At 40yrs old, I'm past the days of needing really loud music in my truck, and didn't want to drop a small fortune into stereo upgrades. If you have a tight budget do these speakers first, upgrade head unit/add amp(s) if budget allows.

Install went well, although I couldn't find a great place to put the crossovers and ended up mounting them in the doors. Did not want to go through the effort of pulling new wires into the doors. The "star mount" worked well for the tweeter, although you will have to enlarge the factory tweeter opening slightly to make them fit. I used a hole saw with a block of wood as a "backer" while drilling. Found it a little odd Infinity chose to only include 2 screws per 'star' but the 'star' has 3 mounting holes. Factory grill touches tweeter grill once the set is installed. infinity didn't include the woofer wires only the wires for the tweeter. When installing the woofers you will need to break off the tabs to get them to fit into the F150 "hole" for the 6x8.

This review is from: Infinity Reference 6830cs 6 x 8/5 x 7-Inch, 270-Watt High Performance Two-Way Component System (Pair) (Electronics)
I installed 2 sets of these components in my 2004 Mustang with a 60 watt rms x 4 JBL amp and they sound excellent. Very clear highs and mids. Would recommend to anyone that wanted to upgrade their sound system.

This is more than I could ever want. I have installed at least eight different sound systems in various cars. Believe me, this is plenty.

These speakers sound much better than the originals in my vehicle. I am happy with their performance but need a receiver update to really make a significant difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent at any price, clearly a bargain in this case., June 11, 2011

The only thing missing was an additional set of pre-wired jumpers, from the speakers to the crossover.
Other than that, everything was in excellent shape and works amazingly well.
