I just got this sub a few weeks ago after researching home theater systems for over a year and I could not be happier with the purchase. SW-12 combines beautifully with my Infinity Primus 362 fronts, Infinity Beta 360 center and Infinity Beta ES250 bipole-dipole surrounds. The onboard Bass Optimization System is extremely useful if your listening area is not auditorium grade (few are). Most subs I listened to in the big box stores seem to be geared to cater the home theater market - all about brute force with little aptitude for music. SW-12 is one of the very few that effortlessly delivers explosive special effects in Matrix Reloaded and the soothing bass in "Another day in paradise". Once optimized, the bass is tight and clear with none of the "boominess" and "muddyness". My living room has hard floors with a lot of bare walls so it was difficult to find the right setting. What worked in my case was to follow the BOS instruction in the manual and use that setting as a starting point. Make the final adjustments by the ear. If you set the "Gain" too high (which most people tend to do) everything that is not bolted down will move :) Also, this is not an apartment friendly equipment. The enclosure is huge and heavy and hard to hide. Low frequencies travel far and your neighbors will not be happy campers. I got this subwoofer from AMAZON approx. 3wks. ago. The process was so easy and there is just something about ordering anything from AMAZON that you just know and can trust that you will get your product quickly and brand spanking new for a whole a lot less$$. KUDOS TO AMAZON--KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
I searched every subwoofer known to man and to the internet. Infinity's SW12 was always among the top rated. The sound is so clear, pure clean audio, and of course your receiver has to have a very low THD%, im pushing my sound through a DENON AVR3806 the sound between this combinations of electronics is is is just AMAZONING! :) My subwoofer crossovers are set at 80 it is not overpowering at all but, when the explosions sound off you know where its coming from (listen to the explosions in the movie RENDITION), when listening to music sometimes I can't tell the difference between my infinity sw12 and my BETA50 bass sound is coming from, cause the BETA50 have some very nice 8"woofers. The sw12 comes with bass optimization system but im not using it right now because I really don't know much about it between work and playing with my HT sometimes there's just not enough hrs. in a day. I can say more but it would take more than 300 words, if you're on the market for a very nice low price sub STOP your search and get the Infinity SW12 NOW!! From AMAZON. You won't be disappointed and you wont find it cheaper anywhere else in new conditions.

This thing is simply amazing. It delivers more bass than you will ever need. And it is solid, tight bass that integrates well with your system - at least it does with my system. I always find myself having to turn it down: My SW range on my reciever goes from -10 to +10 and I usually can't go over -2 or the mix is dominated by the bass - and that is with the x-over set at 100. For those who like to listen to bass instead of music, I imagine you could have a hey day because it will shake the pictures off your walls if you let it. For home theater use this is also phenomenal. The airport explosion scene from Casino Royale was pounding. I think the best thing about this sub is the flexibility. You can fine tune it to your physical setting so it sounds best with your equipment and room. I don't know of any other sub that can do that - at least not at this price. I know that when and if this sub ever goes out, I will try my hardest to get it fixed because my next sub, whatever it may be, will be a let down compared to this one. It's been a long time since I've been so happy with an electronics purchase.

I bought this Sub and it`s awesome the sound is very powerfull and musical. Once it is properly adjusted the sound is very strong clear, and doesn`t overtake the rest of the speakers. I was to buy a Velodyne, but then considered it was a lot of money to spend in a sub, so i went for this Infinity and i must say that it`s a quality TOP product sound as well as the polk and velodyne i tested at the store. Along with my Bowers and Wilkins front speakers it is totally musical, the sub doesn`t kill the rest of the speakers and empowers lower frecuencies in harmony with the rest of the system. The best of all is that i don`t even have to set it to max power to get a powerfull and musical smooth bass, eventhoug my place is pretty big.

I am pleased to say that I was able to aquire one of these for $377 brand new shipped. As far as sound quality goes, in my opinion, you will only be able to beat this sub using an HSU Research or Energy brand subs. I compared this thing to 4 other sub woofers in this price range and it was head and shoulders above the rest. Remember, that when this sub came out it had an $800 price tag. The fact that you can get this thing brand new for half that is amazing. The only down side to this otherwsie perfect deal is the fact that Infinity did not include the RABOS kit. Not to worry though, the instruction manual has a detailed section on how to set the RABOS system by ear. While not perfect it will greatly enhance your listening experience until you are able to purchase a RABOS kit or an SPL meter.
