From School Library Journal
Grade 4-8-- Eccentric and eclectic, this follows the same pattern set in the two previous Kid's World Almanac compilations. Siegel and McLoone Basta have come up with lots of new stuff--grand trivia, fascinating facts, funny lists, scholarly information served plain and simple, all decorated with a variety of graphics. Although it's well indexed, using it as a reference book is difficult; users should browse through it first and know what's in it since there's no clear plan that guarantees, as with adult almanacs, certain information and statistics. The sections on animals and books are particularly well conceived. An interesting section--and a sober one--is "Places of Pain," an annotated list of places in which tragedies have taken place: Auschwitz, Belfast, Soweto. Fans of the earlier books, librarians and teachers, as well as older reluctant learners will find this intriguing.
