About the Author
Drew Bird (MCNI, MCNE, MCT, MCSE, CNE) has been working in the IT industry for over 11 years. After starting out working with mainframes, he quickly moved into the PC networking arena, where he has worked ever since. In 1995, Drew became a technical instructor teaching networking topics. I picked this book up because I've just started my studies in IT and I was curious to know what careers there were in the field. This book gave me a nice overview, and focused my energies. I'm not saying what aspect of IT interests me most. :)The book discusses five central aspects of IT careers: programming, networking, support, databases, and Internet-related stuff. Further, the book is detailed and describes the different areas of IT in-depth, and gives extensive resources for further reading. I actually read this book in one day. It was captivating.

For a person doing career changing and has a lot of quesions about a new field, this book provides very informative and specific knowledge about the IT field, and has solved most of my perplexities. For beginners in IT field, it is really a worth reading book; for peopel ready for job hunting in IT field, this book provides very helpful information as well.
