This tool lists for over $400. I got it from Amazon/tooltopia for under $263 including shipping. For an auto mechanic, this thing is really something different. It resembles an air ratchet but really it's an impact wrench. The fact it's shaped like an air ratchet instead of an impact gun allows it to get into places an impact wrench wouldn't be able to. One disadvantage is that it doesn't "hand ratchet" like an air ratchet, since it isn't an air ratchet at all. IOW, with an air ratchet, if you activate the trigger & the tool lacks the torque to break the fastener free, you can break it free by hand, then run the fastener off with the tool. This is minor criticism, though, since the IR hammerhead has about 2-1/2 times the torque of the top rated air ratchet around & 27 times the speed! Should've been invented decades ago!

The idea of this tool is very good. But after about 4 months of usage the head has stripped out and the tool has to be completely disassembled and repaired.

I have heard of others having the same issues. Like I said the design works well, when it actually works, but for a tool that is almost $300 it should last for years, not a couple months.

As a automotive service technician with more than 20 years of experience on the field this is the worst impact tool I ever had. It took only two weeks to break the socket head while removing a transmission nut from a 2011 Chevy Tahoe. The first sign of failure began with the ring that holds the socket in place, it began to deform due to the impact and making the removal or installation of a socket a real pain. This impact rachet was supposed to replace a Snap On rachet that lasted 15 years of continuous heavy work every single day. It took just 3 weeks to break, it has poor and cheap design and don't buy that infamous advertisement that says the rachet is able to remove a crankshaft pulley nut on a 6 cyl chevy Blazer, it doesn't!!! happens, I've tried to do it and the nut doesn't even noticed that was being pulled out, it simply did not moved. So, again don't waste your money in something that has marginal performance as an impact tool.

Removes nuts and bolts in hard to reach places ordinarily I would have used a standard air ratchet, mostly without success on the first try. Because this is an impact wrench and "rattles" it will not pinch my fingers and / or hand against a frame or some other hard object. However, the large diameter head does somewhat limit access to some fastners, but one can't have it all!

Works decent for about 20-25 ft lbs. Cant break things loose by hand like a regular air ratchet it will just spin. But that is on great part your hand does not get jammed between something. It is great to have but you will most likely keep you regular air ratchet in the tool box. The head is a little bulky so hard to get to stuff between the eengine and fenderwell is not going to happen. It has some good uses though.

Used at least several times a week in a professional automotive shop. Was worried about bad reviews of reliability but oiled often and greased. Has tons of power for its size. I cant complain its more than made its money. And the different power levels help when dealing with smaller fasteners. Ive used this tool for about 6 months now and waited to do the review to see if it would hold up and so far its been great.
