5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Quality Violin Stand
I ordered this violin stand via Amazon from Johnson String Instruments. The company does an excellent job with shipping the items quickly.

1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE! Chinese stand FELL APART! - Ingles says I'm SOL
I've two of these stands. On one of them, the base part of the tubing has lost its tack weld. If you carefully separate the pie slice shaped black foam from the base of the stand, you'll see that the base of the tubing is welded there. Mine lost its weld, so the tubing is not secure to the grey base - they separate - I was left holding the tubing while the grey base fell...

This violin stand is top notch. I don't think you could improve on the design. It adjusts for the height of your instrument and the bow hook also adjusts to various heights. It folds quickly and compactly so you can tuck it out of the way if necessary or of course is terrific for carrying with you.

Excellent violin stand. Highly recommend both the stand and the Johnson String Instrument company.

Very solid construction. Folds flat and small, but not as convenient as the Hercules violin stand with travel bag. No place to put your rosin either.
Works great for a mandolin too. I loop my strap over the bow holder to make it easier to pick up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Should have bought two, April 30, 2009
This review is from: Ingles Adjustable Violin and Viola Stand (Electronics)
I recently bought two different stands for a musical production I performed in. I used this stand for my violin and was extremely pleased with it. I felt very confident that my violin would be secure once I set it down. I cut corners and spent a little less on a different stand that was not as well designed (and was cheaper) for my mandolin and was extremely disappointed. Lesson learned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Investment, March 29, 2010

This is a sturdy stand that helps me feel that my violin is safe standing alone in the stand. I have used other violin stands that I felt the violin would just fall off and cause damage to the instrument. This stand has great safety lock to ensure the violin will stay in the stand and has good padding on the resting pegs so it does not scratch the instrument.
Well worth the investment to know that my instrument is safe.

UPDATE: 1/9/12 GLEN INGLES REFUSES TO REPLACE OR REPAIR THE STAND. BEWARE! ...and you should be aware that the stand is assembled in..............wait for it................China. That may explain why it failed, but Glen Ingles could have offered to replace it. I guess he doesn't want me to buy any more of his products, or refer others to his products. Well, that's his policy. That's okay, he's got competition, and I'll be purchasing from them instead.

My ten year old daughter loves this stand! She keeps it in her room and picks up her violin whenever she feels like playing. The stand is easy to use and very stable.

This is an excellent product with a good price, we use these at work frequently, and I love having it at home. The only thing you should know is that I have seen different list prices at work it is $32.70 and on another website $39.95

This is the second/same stand I bought for my daughter. We use them at home and unless she is going for lessons, never put away our violins since we bought the stands. Very solid. My daughter is on a half sized violin and mine are full sized. It accomodates both wonderfully. In fairness, I haven't tried any other stands, but why would I want to if I have what I want!

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly convenient!, September 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ingles Adjustable Violin and Viola Stand (Electronics)
I purchased this item for myself. I am playing the violin just for fun. I have a very busy life that sometimes I find it time consuming to practice because of the steps to take before I can start like opening the case, setting up, etc...Since I received the Ingles violin stand, it made practicing very convenient. The violin is just right there set-up and ready to play anytime. I do not have to remove the shoulder rest either. It seems secure but it's too light. I am concerned that the whole stand with the violin can easily be knocked out. I do not like the locking mechanism of this stand. One has to manually open and lock. One step more to do and forget. It is not as handy for packing compared to the Hercules Travelite stand which I also purchased fr Amazon. I wish it would come with a small tray attached to the stand to hold the rosin and a durable water resistant carrying bag. It is adjustable which means it can grow with the violin size. I should have found out about this when my children were younger. It may have motivated them to practice more because it wouldn't take much set up time. Suggest to buy esp those with little children!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly solid, heavy duty stand, January 5, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ingles Adjustable Violin and Viola Stand (Electronics)
This stand is both heavy duty, and also quite heavy. There is no danger of this stand being easily knocked over. The weight of the stand and stability of the base, along with the overall design and construction, are quite impressive.

It has what appears to be a rugged, powder coated finish. As advertised, it will hold your instrument without having to remove the shoulder rest, should you use one.

There is a heavy duty plastic lever that swings down over the neck yoke. This keeps the instrument securely locked into the stand. The lever is easily operated with one hand. The lever is placed such that it is easiest to use with your right hand, which is perfect, allowing you to grab the instrument with your left.

My only complaint would be that it is low to the ground (just as it appears in the photo). Because of this, you probably don't want to leave it standing alone in the middle of an open area, where someone could trip over it. I use two if these when playing, and keep them right near my music and mic stands, so that they will not be able to get tripped over.
