I wasn't the biggest fan of the old 70's prog rock, but these guys only use that as a jumping off point. Their sound is edgier and their vocals, by Ken Pfeifer, are better than those of the bands that inspired them. My only complaint is that the recording is a bit bass heavy, but you can just tweak your EQ. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you actually like the old prog stuff.

After receiving "Inheritance", I played it once and stowed it away in the "less favorite" corner of my CD collection. However, this turned out to be a big mistake. After occasionally listening to it again, the album became better each time, and now it is one of my favorite prog CDs. The reason for this strange evolution is that the songwriting style is quite unusual - not the typical prog riffs that many prog bands practise. The mood of the album is quite dark and pensive, the songs are very melodic, and the arrangements are dense, with occasional metal-style guitars that give the music a threatening and earthy sound. Choose the "Royalty" sample first to get into the mood. All in all it is a great experience to listen to this album, once you have catched its gist. Don't you miss it!
