5.0 out of 5 stars In Human Rampage
Another great album from Dragonforce. Speed, Power, and melody. Although it's metal and fast, its music that can be enjoy by people with varying tastes in music. PS... worth seeing live too

3.0 out of 5 stars Yes, they have chops.
Yes, we all know Dragonforce can play fast, but what else can they do?
Well, pretty much nothing else. They are all great players, but they just don't have much variety. If you're a fan of Dragonforce, no doubt you will be awe-stricken by Inhuman Rampage, but if you're more like me, and enjoy variety in an album, then it will leave you dissapointed. All the songs...

Although not as good as their first album (Valley of the Damned), Dragonforce continues to impress me with their blazing fast riffs, complex chord progressions, and well orchestrated out of this world solos. Make no mistake, this is not the whiny touchy feely so called "Emo-Metal" that has been dominating the scene as of late. Nor is it the generic and lifeless KORN and Nickelback type crap that real metal fans have had to endure for so long. These guys are the inheritors of Dio and Iron Maiden, and I can only hope that they bring back a trend in Metal that once held an entire generation of headbangers enthralled.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Of A 4.5, but I'll round Up, December 19, 2007

Iron M. Rob "~Up Teh Irons!" (Where in the world are YOU?) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inhuman Rampage (W/Dvd) (Spec) (Audio CD)
Alright, I bought the special edtion of inhuman rampage a few weeks ago, and frankly, I love it. Now it's not my favorite album, but it does contain some songs I adore. Dragonforce is one of those few bands out there in a moment caught in a hype. Well, I say, BELIEVE THE HYPE! These guys may play fast and try to show how skilled they are in songs, but no doubt they know how to also include some catchy melodies in their songs. It is one of the few artists of today that I praise! So here's my review.

Track 1.) Through The Fire And Flames
- BEST SONG ON HERE! Seriously, the only reason I decided to give these guys ago was because I watched a video on youtube of a preview for guitar hero 3. Sure it has you playing some key board parts, but it blows you away seeing someone actually doing the song.
Enough with gh3 now, this song starts off as a great album opener, then thrusts you into a whirlwind of fire and brimstone! One moment your going "hey, this sounds pretty cool!" the next your like "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

I mean that in a good way lol. Seriously, this song is an epic by all standards and makes you want to pick up a guitar even though you have no idea what the heck you're doing and hitting random notes. By the end of this song, if this is your first listening to Dragonforce...you're going to be quite dazed or high on tunefullness and epicness, which is good = )

Track 2.) Revolution Deathsquad
-If "Through The Fire And Flames" isn't the best song on here, then this is! It kicks the song off with an opener that makes you want to pick up a guitar and play it with one hand while waving to a crowd of onlookers in awe, even if they are your neighbors lawn gnomes and you're hitting only the first note repeativly (hey, it's the imagination that counts).
This song is epic as "Through The Fire And Flames" and contains some intresting solo parts. You'll even find yourself banging your head or singing to those catchy lyrics, even after your done listening!
Now that we've journeyed to another epic-epic, lets head onto the next one =) (as Hiro would say : "Yatee!" or "yataa..." I forget...)

Track 3.) Storming The Burning Fields

-Hurry! Log onto World Of Warcraft! C'mon! Get your elf/dwarf/ whatever the hell you are to the nearest player battle zone of horde vrs alliance and storm it! I don't care if you're afraid you will get owned, just DO IT!

It's quite nice how this song, as well as basically all tracks on here, goes well with games like that. It just sets the mood doesn't it? "Storming the burning fields" takes you on a wild ride with missing tracks and some lose bridges, but this roller coaster doesn't pump the adrenaline as the previous tracks, but still is a good song to listen to while owning everyone~!
And in those cases where you are the noob, you can always try, and even if you do die, just go around as a ghost and follow the strongest goon there and pretend to be them!

Track 4.) Operation Ground Pound
- Finally, another track similar to the epic-epicness as the two starters! Another good listen. Now the music video for this song may be weird, but you may find yourself going "what the hell, this fun! Lets go smash grandma's vase collection!" Takes you on a wild ride through vast mountains and burning crusades of dragonfire and whatnot!

Track 5.) Body Breakdown
- Yet another awesome song! Still, doesn't feel as epic as the starters or the previous one, yet provides the background music while you crack some skulls in runescape, dungeons and dragons online, or whatever MMORPG you play!

Track 6.) Cry For Eternity
- Dragonforce songs have weird names, don't they? Hmm, this ones similar to my "Body Breakdown" one before, so I really can't say much more. It's a good song, but, it gets a bit "generic" after a while =(

Track 7.) The Flame Of Youth
- Once again, another good song, but doesn't really provide the epic-epicness as "Revolution Deathsquad" or "Operation Ground And Pound". Really, I would love to praise this song more, but frankly, I'm running out of different stuff to describe it.

Track 8.) Trail Of Broken Hearts
- OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT DEFIES ALL LAWS OF PHYSIC AND REALITY ITSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!! DRAGONFORCE MADE A SLOW SONG!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Yep, that just about descirbes it lol. While it may be a slow tempo song, it still includes some parts that are quite technical and require skill. Yet another intresting and decent song.

Track 9.) Lost Souls In Endless Time
- What the heck? I paid an extra 2$ for this!!!!???? Oh my gawd! I was expecting another "Through the fire and flames" EPIC-EPIC!

Alright, it's not bad, but I wouldn't call it Dragonforce's best song...it's ok...little techno though lol.

Overall- Ok, this album is great, and has some REALLY awesome standouts. Whether you're playing WoW or need something to escape the doldrums of work, this is a good album to listen. You may have found me getting less enthusiastic(can't spell) through out the review, but don't get me wrong, these are all good songs, even if it gets a little generic after a while. Also, the special edition contains some extra videos that are pretty entertaining to watch. By all means, pick up this album, whether you are a Dragonforce fan, fan of the now extreme powermetal (to the MAX!!!) or still consider Iron Maidens "The Number Of The Beast" song to be one of your top favorites. Really, if this is your first time listening to a band like Dragonforce, you're going to love it. In fact, you may never veiw music the same. I know I have, some songs just seem empty now after I gave this dragon-ride a go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best DragonForce Album, May 6, 2007
This review is from: Inhuman Rampage (W/Dvd) (Spec) (Audio CD)
This is the enhanced version of their latest album, there is a bonus track (not found on the original Inhuman Rampage CD) and also comes with a DVD. I personally think this is the best of the 3 albums they had, also It's the fastest and hardest.
I will dare to say it's the best power metal album of all times !

All the songs stand alone, there's no cohesiveness to the album, and at first listen they all sound the same. I've heard many people call Dream Theater(btw, my favorite band) masturbatory, but they are not when compared to a band such as Dragonforce.

However, this album is not all bad. It's good music to listen to in the morning, it seems to get me energized. It's probably also good exercising music.

Highly reccomended if you enjoy REALLY fast metal, don't care about lyrics, and excessively long solos. But for others, look elsewhere. Maybe Kamelot?

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Speed Metal, not Jazz, October 8, 2009
This review is from: Inhuman Rampage (MP3 Download)
A lot of people reviewing here come across as real sour, complaining that Dragonforce plays fast or isn't jazz. Sheesh, get a life and a sense of humor.

Dragonforce plays *speed metal*. Their brand is very melodious, with really, really long guitar and keyboard solos, non-growly (actual!) singing, and themes and lyrics you wouldn't be ashamed of having polite relatives hear.

Beyond that, they play -extremely- fast; assuming what I hear on their albums isn't sped up in the studio, these guys are absolutely amazing. They are obviously having a ton of fun and most of the material is totally, gleefully over the top ("OK, but can we play it just even the tiniest little bit faster...? Does this go to 11?").

So no, if you're a highbrow jazz fan who enjoys swishing wine around your mouth while frowning about its naivete, then you're probably not going to enjoy Dragonforce; their music is just too upbeat. And no, Dragonforce doesn't have a ton of variety between songs, though their successive albums do certainly display musical evolution; Inhuman Rampage, for example, is "harder" and less "melodious" than its outstanding predecessor, Sonic Firestorm.

Are they trying to reach the broadest market? No - they're trying to reach people like me, who love all-out speed metal with melody, and who still after hundreds of times of listening to this, find ourselves grinning when the guitarists are three minutes through a four-minute guitar solo (seriously - these guys put every other guitar star out there to shame, with their wimpy ten-second solos) and who aren't ashamed to break out in some air-guitaring just for the heck of it.

Dragonforce is fun, hyper-fast, over the top, really good at what they do, and you know what, if you're curious, download one or two songs; won't break the bank and you can see for yourself what all the fuss is about. I would recommend "Through the Fire and Flames"; even my determinedly country and anti-metal wife finds herself whistling the melody line from this song, it's just that darn catchy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent band, Oustanding album., February 25, 2008
This review is from: Inhuman Rampage (W/Dvd) (Spec) (Audio CD)
This is a very impressive album. I first heard of Dragon Force from Guitar Hero III; If you like their song "Through the Fire and Flames," then you will almost definately enjoy this album. Inhuman Rampage almost immediately became a favorite among my music collection. I addition, I have found that this is one of the few albums, which I have owned, that does not grow old after listening to it many times. Recommended to anyone who enjoys fast paced metal or progressive rock.

2.0 out of 5 stars Uh, Guys, Got Anything New?, October 29, 2008
This review is from: Inhuman Rampage (W/Dvd) (Spec) (Audio CD)
This garbage sounds exactly like the rest of the crap before it. I've owned all their albums and they eventually bored me. "Operation Ground And Pound" has some appeal and "Through The Fire And Flames" has an awesome opening, but everything else just blends in terribly...not even a desperately needed tempo change for any other tracks! I remember saying the exact same thing upon seeing the video to Through The Fire & Flames for the first time on YouTube. Every d*ckless Guitar Hero loser responded with swearing and mediocre insults in an attempt to defend their precious DragonForce. Sad. That was just me explaining that Through The Fire wasn't unique by a long shot when compared to the rest of the Dragonforce library. Gee, I wonder whats gonna happen here?

If you reading this believe I'm wrong, I dare you to listen to "Sonic Firestorm", "Inhuman Rampage" and "Valley Of The Damned" straight through (all tracks of all three of these albums) and find a musical distinction between them. I dare you. I'm not deeply into Power Metal, but I honestly gave this band a try only to be disappointed by their lack of creativity. I wouldn't recommend Inhuman Rampage unless it's the first album you buy from them - that way, it'll sound different, fast and new.

Guitar Hero losers, you may now tell me I'm wrong.
