1.0 out of 5 stars forget anything TOKYOPOP brings..., September 3, 2005

TOKYOPOP doesn't know anime and transform it into uglyness (change score, characters' names, cut scenes, etc...). Pioneer at least keep the original score and characters' names for their animes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cars & Racing never looked so cool!!!!, June 15, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Initial D - Battle 5 - Duct Tape Death Match (DVD)
Initial D is THE GREATEST ANIME EVER!! There are two versions of Initial D episodes 13-15. One is the original Japanese version that aired in Japan. The other is dubbed in English. Either one I prefer, there both cool!! Tak accepts the Duct Tape Deathmatch he was challenged by in Battle 4. He accepts it for revenge since Shingo hospiltalized his best friend Iggy when he was driving with his date. It also introduces Akina Speed Stars leader Cole a new girl he falls head over heels for. I started out reading the comics, then watching the anime. This DVD has some back story with Iggy and Shingo that wasn't in the books. At first I never really liked cars at first or knew anything about them. Initial D changed all that!! The races are gripping, perfect story that make it great!!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the few products that i anticipate then hate., May 11, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Initial D - Battle 5 - Duct Tape Death Match (DVD)
That's right. I hate it. I caught a glimpse of initial-d on shoutcast streaming video and loved the show. Very quickly bought up 1-4. But at the extreamly slow pace the dvds are coming out (them spending all the time to make the "tricked out" version which i'm not terribly interested in) i'm quickly loosing my paitience. stage1, stage2, movie/stage3 and now stage4 is out in japan, and we are only 1/4 the way though stage1? kinda hard to swallow.

OK... that being said. The show is a must for everyone. Car lover or not, the show pulls you in very well. If you like cars it's a added bonus because the show covers all the details (so much so it can be funny at times). Personally i kinda wish i waited a year before i started buying the episodes so i dont have to wait a month before the next episode, but at the same time i'm enjoy them.
