I love this album!, April 10, 2010
This review is from: Initiation (Audio CD)
This is a great album. Erica Lindsay's sax tone is so expressive and emotionally evocative. Sometimes it is so open to the universe in a Coltrane spiritual way; sometimes it's chill or meditative, and then there are the hard driving tracks with just the right of dissonance. Sumi Tonooka's piano is terrific. She too is a master of mood and of inventiveness, playing with beauty and with soul. Bob Braye on bass and Rufus Reid on drums provide a great compliment and carpet upon which everyone dances.

Sumi's sublime piano playing, August 7, 2010
This review is from: Initiation (Audio CD)
Sumi's nuanced piano is sublime as always in her newest recording. A bit more out there than usual. Erica is a new artist for me, a delightful discovery, and dynamic interplay with Sumi. Philly still really misses you, Sumi!
