This book opens with a review of sewing techniques but does not teach you how to sew. The book is spiral bound with glossy pages which makes it handy to have open while you work. The graphics are cartoon style which appeals to kids. Each project has a real photo of the completed item which is also nice since kids are visual.
I think the advertised age appeal level is about right. I've used some of these projects in sewing classes with 9-13 year olds. The projects are a cute collection of things to make from a pair of jeans but it's nothing that can't already be found on the internet for free. Some projects include altering jeans to add decorative cuffs as well as fabric additions to the legs and waist. There are a few skirts and a corset back halter top. On the crafty side you will find some purses, wallets, notebook cover and pillows. Overall this would be a cute stocking stuffer or addition to a gift bag for a girl that likes to sew and be crafty.
