Editorial Reviews

Review

From the reviews:

“This instructional book describes how to perform musculoskeletal injections using image guidance with actual image visualization. It reviews in detail how to perform each procedure … and includes useful templates for accurate medical record documentation, billing, and coding. … the book appears to be written for physicians in training or practicing physicians in fields that involve performance of musculoskeletal injections. … The book is useful, with its step-by-step guide, illustrations that demonstrate actual patient position, fluoroscopic views, ultrasound views, and anatomic views using skeletal models.” (Andrew L. Hendrix, Doody’s Review Service, March, 2011)

From the Back Cover

Joint injection is a particularly beneficial treatment for inflammatory and degenerative conditions in the upper and lower extremities and the spine. The technique is effective for managing pain after other treatments have failed and, though the procedure has historically been performed by orthopedists, physiatrists, rheumatologists and interventional radiologists, the ease with which injection procedures can be integrated into a physician’s practice have led to increased interest from family and sports medicine doctors. Injection Procedures: Osteoarthritis and Related Conditions is focused on practical, step-by-step guidelines to performing image-guided injection procedures. It includes pearls and pitfalls, useful images from real procedures, and documentation templates for including information in a patient’s medical record. With chapters dedicated to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot in addition to practical chapters on incorporating these procedures into a daily practice, this book is a comprehensive handbook for any physician interested in offering injection procedures as an option to his or her patients.

Unlike on google books, where the pictures are high quality and colored, the print version is so bad, that one sometimes cannot see the needle position or anatomical details. A consultation with the publisher about this issue was pointless. They seemed not interested in a solution.
The texts itself were helpful and good structured - that's why the two stars...

Really disappointed, probably more publishers fault. Pictures are very small. Templates are grainy and too small. Expected much more polished product. Look for other books if you are trying to learn or refine injection techniques.
