Editorial Reviews

Review

Millicent has an amazingly intimate way of writing that makes you feel as though you are going through the pages of her life alongside her.
Gabe Sachs, Writer/Producer
90210
--Book Blurb

Many will find something of value just by randomly opening pages and selecting something new: births, deaths, lovers, children, snooping, guns, the down side of Las Vegas, soap operas and birthdays.
--The Compulsive Reader by Sheri Harper

The work addresses family, love, politics, art, and religion. It tackles current events, popular culture, and spares a few asides for Miles Davis. It's an ambitious collection that takes a lot of risks. --Chamber Four

5.0 out of 5 stars Profound writing, stunning imagry September 30, 2011
Format:Paperback
Millicent Acardi's book and work stretches the imagination and challenges the soul. A writer of profound power of language and yet universal theme. Some of her poems hit like sledgehammers, never holding back on the pain, the struggle and the aching beauty that is loss, grief and struggle. Others take on the voices and the minds of individuals that we all know, or are, and guide us through truths that perhaps we could not address or are afraid to. In the end, she creates poetry that teaches, inspires, that are gifts without being morose or overly self-aware. They are like reading the words that our feelings speak but in a voice we don't have ourselves. I am glad she lets me hear that voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Broken and Beautiful September 25, 2011
Format:Paperback
Accardi manages to capture all kinds of fragile moments framed in simple observations of this broken, but beautiful life. You cannot help but be affected by her poems--they capture gut-wrenching moments of truth garnered from voices young and old, male and female, kind and not-kind. This is a lovely, compassionate accounting of the moments of cruelty and kindness which connect us all in this life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wisdom and Grace September 24, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
In Injuring Eternity, Millicent Borges Accardi brings forth the point that it is the simplier moments in life that many of us fail to notice. Her beautifully written book becomes a celebration of these often overlooked personal times, be they "pouring rusty nails/Into oily glass jars in the cellar" or "Waking up/To noises that must be squelched." Accardi talently presents us with a sincere tribute to regular life, and does it with a special and unique voice. The writing is both sensual and seductive, and the imagry lasts long after we close the book, our thoughts on reading it again and again.
