5.0 out of 5 stars Injustice for All
While I really enjoyed this book as I do all of J. A. Jance's J.P. Beaumont and Joanna Brady series, I do wish that all the books had their number in the series in the title. I find myself reading them out of order. Even though each book is complete in its storyline, timeline wise it would be better to read the series in order.

2.0 out of 5 stars "the final gift" - omg!
I was just starting to think this was going to be a pretty decent mystery when I encountered the following. I'm a far cry from a prude (really, ask anyone), but this had me going OMG! OMG! - and laughing in disbelief. Wasn't expecting a bodice-ripper, but... well, see for yourself...

"She slid her body onto mine, moisture finding moisture, need finding need,...

5.0 out of 5 stars BEAU LOVES AND LOSES AGAIN!, January 13, 2001
This review is from: Injustice for All: A J.P. Beaumont Mystery (Mass Market Paperback)
I am beginning to think that Beau will never have a good love life, everybody he meets dies. With that in mind, this was a page turning gem. I finished it in one setting. J.A. Jance is an excellent author and has a wonderful way of combining description with suspense. Beau is one of my favorite characters and I love his outlook on life.

In this novel, a scream from the beach disrupts Beau's quiet vacation solitude. A crazy psychopath bent on revenge stalks the Washington State Parole Board. Can Beau catch him in time? Read the book and find out.

I grasped her slim waist, raising her, lowering her, hearing her sharp intake of breath each time I probed closer to home, each time I led her to the brink then drew her back, offering and withholding the final gift."

First person here is supposed to be a macho sorta guy. Right. The final gift. ROFL!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well developed mystery plot with interesting characters, July 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Injustice for All: A J.P. Beaumont Mystery (Mass Market Paperback)
While reading "Injustice for All" I was very intrigued to learn about the early days of some of the characters I had come to know. I picked up my first J.A. Jance book about two years ago and I find I like the series with J.P Beaumont.

The opening is a classic "grabber" and the action never quits thereafter. I would recommend this book to mystery lovers. It is a good example of the genre and is interesting throughout.

I like the sensibilities of the main character. He is somewhat "hardboiled" and yet manages to be human and sensitive in a really masculine way. At least I think so. Good accomplishment!

I very much enjoy J.A. Vance's books, but I really do wish there was some indication of the order in which they happen. In fact, if I could change one thing about Amazon, It would be to add a numbering system for each author's books, especially the ones with the same main character.

5.0 out of 5 stars HEADS UP....., January 16, 2010
As an avid J. A. Jance fan, I must say that this was originally published in 1986 and is the second in the Beau series....Loved it then, as I have loved all of Ms. Jance's books.
I was surprised, however, that this was reprinted now (and with a price increase) as I haven't seen any others in the series reprinted.

More importantly, for those of you who (like me) enjoy reading books in their proper order, I recommend the website www.sykm.com---it's wonderful for many things which I hope you'll take advantage of, but if an author is listed, you will find lots of wonderful information that will help the reader out...Now onto some unread books on my shelves!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good - 3.5 Stars, November 15, 2002

This review is from: Injustice for All: A J.P. Beaumont Mystery (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed this book all the way through. The characters are great and the situations Beau puts himself into are quite entertaining. All the way up to the last 30 pages I was waffling between a four or five star rating. The ending just didn't work for me. I've never been a fan of the bad guy thinking he's got the upper hand spills his guts to the cop ending. That knocked me back to 3.5 stars.

That said, Judith Jance really has something going on. It was fun riding along with the investigation, meeting the suspects, attending events uninvited to harass politicians. Something that I particularly enjoyed was that the list of suspects was assembled complete with negative perspective and suspicion and then as Beaumont moves through the list, the suspicion dissipates and we meet every day likeable people. Well done.

There were some very funny and creatively developed scenes that went a long way toward establishing me as a fan of J. A. Jance. The word-picture memory trick was hilarious. And the Pasco police chief's office as well as the Mary Kay convention were stand out scenes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Seattle Mystery, March 19, 2008
This review is from: Injustice for All: A J.P. Beaumont Mystery (Mass Market Paperback)
"Injustice For All" by J. A. Jance, ©1986

This is a tried and true sort of mystery novel. The hardbitten detective is trying to solve a murder that is not on his duty roster.
I enjoy the Seattle area and it is always nice to read about somewhere that you know. The detective is good at what he does and has gotten caustic about. I recently read about genius' are idiosyncratic, so people they have to work with or through tend to dislike them. It begins to be that the genius is not appreciated as he should be, and Beau is getting to like that genius.
In the beginning he gets to enjoy the fruits of love, and, of course, she enjoys it as much as he does. How wonderful, but it is sort of contrived, maybe. I am not all that experienced, so I am not a real good judge of this stuff, but it seems that it makes him a little bit too perfect. Like his being independently wealthy: just a bit too much of all the good things happen to him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard to put this one down, August 7, 2011
By

This is the second J.P. Beaumont book in the series by J.A. Jance. I just finished this book last night after finishing the first one about a week or so ago. After reading two books, it seems obvious to me that I am now dedicated to this series and look forward to going through them in the next few months or so.

The book is written well - plenty of good dialogue among characters. I like the J.P. Beaumont character. I like his partner Peters, and the attorney Ames. The mystery itself is interesting. I won't say it is totally unpredictable, but you never quite know for sure until you find out who was behind the murders, and why.

I gave this four stars though, because like the first one, there is some hokiness that I don't particularly care for (i.e. it seems that every girl that J.P. meets is peculiar, and giggly). Also a bit odd is how when the mystery itself is put on the backburner for a bit (I won't reveal why), J.P. starts investigating another case and it seemed that the author took the book in a separate direction (the burning of the bums) for a bit that was not necessarily necessary.

Overall though, the story altogether is really great, and I expect the Beaumont books will get even better as I go through them.
