EARLY 90's CLASSIC,
By Carl Mack (Palm Springs, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ink (Audio CD)
When the Fixx get down to it, they can really write heartfelt songs that are classics. I never have understood why they are so universally dismissed by critics. For all intensive purposes this was thier swansong and what a way to go out. Propulsive, energetic and very well produced, there a a truckload of classic tunes here. My personal favorites are "How Much Is Enough", "Falling in Love", "Yesterday/Today", All The Best Things", and "Climb the Hill". If you want some creative, meaningful, and exciting music, give this one a try.

Still in love with this album after almost 20 years when I first heard it on a cassette tape (remember those?)...Timeless music, deep and thoughtful lyrics, you definitely can't go wrong with this one. It opened the world of The Fixx to my ears and heart. Favorites: Yesterday/Today, Climb The Hill & of course, No One Has To Cry, which is a classic.

Solid but not Perfect.,
By Tatawayowayo (Toronto) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ink (Audio CD)
Though many Fixx fans may slag the album for it's attempt at commercial success, due greatly in part to the Record Company's heavy involvement at the time, overall, this record is as solid as any Fixx album before it. It easily boasts some of their finest songs ever in How Much Is Enough, No One Has To Cry and Crucified. While also giving us classic Fixx tracks like Shut It Out and All Is Fair.It doesn't earn more stars purely because some tracks come off as fillers. However, even those songs have some merit, providing the disc with a pleasant overall sound. Lyrically, it's a brilliant disc, as Fixx fans have come to expect. Musically, it's a little misguided in places but the execution is solid. The Cd bonus track Make No Plans is almost worth the purchase itself.
