She weaves three strong plot lines and characters together, fully fashioning each.

Overall, with a strong plot, intriguing characters, and a story that leaves you wanting more, Inked Magic is an excellent erotic urban fantasy read.

I wish that they had tried to make it (their three way relationship) work a bit earlier in the book.

Inked Magic hooked me from page 1 and did not disappoint. Etaín is the kinda woman I wouldn't mind being: strong, sexy, independent, and not afraid to go after what she wants when she wants. There is something more about Etaín than what the reader is introduced to in Inked Magic. I am left wanting more. JS leaves the story open to a sequel. And I want to see what happens next for Eamon, Cathal and Etaín (and some of the other characters that we were introduced to as well).

Inked Magic was an awesome read. Becoming part of Etaín's tattooed world and the decadence of San Francisco, I felt ready to get a tattoo from Etaín and travel through Cathal's club and enjoy having dinner at Eamon's restaurant. And the mystery of the Harlequin Rapist prowling the streets had a satisfying conclusion. Meeting Etaín, Cathal and Eamon's friends/clients/etc. fleshed out the rest of story where interesting side stories could form (and hopefully will form).

This book was erotically delightful. And JS, if you're reading this, this fan wants more!

This book is full of excitement, magic, discoveries, mystery, amazingly hot characters (including the females), was full of hot sex, was hard to let go of and left me wanting MORE! Jory, you now have a new fan :)

I'm big into ink. But even if I was not Inked Magic would of had my full attention. It's so very well written, the attention to detail is amazing and the story with it's touch of magic is gripping. I loved the heroin Etain. She is definitely my new favorite. She's strong, independent, sexy, talented, giving, magical, has an amazingly huge heart and knows what she wants.

Cathal and Eamon are two amazingly drool worthy specimens from completely different worlds and are both perfect for Etain. It's going to take time, sacrifices and patience. But I feel they are going to be a very successful trio.

Next book please :)

Gave it 4 stars for 'liking it' but should have been 5 stars if not for the ending..

The book was full of details without being burdensome and was wonderfully crafted to the point you were always 'with' the charaters. Both of the men were strong and sexy and Etain (female) was a perfect foil for them since she did things her way. She was strong willed and able to be tender at the same time. Very nice characters.

There were several secondary characters I would love to read more about, for instance, Eamon's second and third in command need their own stories. They sound dangerous and delicious.

The only big problem was the abrupt ending. *SPOILER* With the exception of killing off the bad guys who needed killing, all the other questions in the book was left open. Is there a second book? What happened when she found out she was elf? Did she survive the transition? Her human lover Cathal may have an extended life but doesn't know it? What about the relationship with her brother and father did that get better? Not a fan of open ended books.

I've read Jory for a number of years, but this book i couldn't put down. It was fabulous. Loved the characters, the poly relationship. Hope there is more from this if it is a series. Just enough magic to be interesting but not all consuming, the story was great and the men yummy.

Format: Paperback
In San Francisco Etain the tattoo artist has the uncanny paranormal power of seeing what a person she touches with her palms has imprinted in their last recall memories. Ironically she uses her gift to help the police and the FBI solve crimes as that is part of her DNA make-up; but is somewhat distant from her father the police captain and her brother the Fed as neither understand the post-traumatic stress cost of touching skin.

Etain meets club owner Cathal Dunne, the son of a mob boss and Elf Lord Eamon the restauranteur. Cathal (and his dad) demands Etain use her skill to identify the punks who raped his cousin leaving her to die. Eamon demands the changeling Etain become his consort. At the same she struggles with the four males in her life (including the two family law enforcement officers) the FBI deploys Etain to help them catch the serial Harlequin Rapist, unaware that this psychopath becomes the fifth man in her life as she is his intended next victim.

The key to this super romantic investigative urban fantasy is that the males have different yet alpha personalities, which anchors the Strong San Francisco setting. The heroine is a brave person who knows first-hand the true nightmarish psychological meaning of the skin game on her mental state, but does what she can to bring justice to victims. Readers will enjoy the engaging Inked Magic.

Inked Magic by Jory Strong

I've liked a lot of Jory's books when she was publishing at Ellora's Cave so I thought that her works would translate fairly well over to the more mainstream publisher; that her work would have a bit more story to it. And while this book did have some more story it still focused more on the sex and in a very graphic manner with frank language.

The idea of Etain being with two such different men (a mafia Don's Son/nephew and and Elven Lord) was unique. I wish that they had tried to make it (their three way relationship) work a bit earlier in the book.

I am not sure if this is the start of a series and that is why so much of the underlying themes, character building and story movement were stunted. The ending left me scratching my head and wondering if some chapters were missing.

The story was very slow to build, never quite coming to a climax. There was so much repetition in dialogue, thoughts, conversations and inner-dialogue that nearly a quarter of the book could have been edited out to make for a tighter and more pleasant read. The idea of a serial killer used in this fashion along with a three-way relationship should have been more exciting, it is a fresh idea. However, it just didn't work. This book just wasn't sure whether or not it wanted to be an erotica with a bit of plot thrown in or a mystery/police procedural/urban fantasy with a ton of sex thrown in.
