I normally love this author's books. I buy this type of book for for a fun, relaxing read. Not sure what the author was trying to accomplish in this one. It is basically about Mitch trying to put up Habitat for Humanity type homes. The first family selected is a Latin/Mexican American family, 2nd generation Americans, born here in the US. They are a nice, hardworking family and certainly deserving of a home of their own. Thayer seems to go off on a few tangents about how great the ILLEGAL population is, and that people in this country illegally should be called Mexican Americans? (Not all illegals in this country are Mexican.) While she shouts the great virtues of illegal immigrants in the book, Mitch, the one building the homes, involves himself with the local Mexican American group, and Thayer then portrays the leader of this group as an attention getting, dishonest, publicity seeking vandal???? I'm not sure what the author was trying to accomplish with this book. If she wants to solve the problems of all of us horrible, hardworking, global warming Americans, then she should NOT write books about what is touted as scrapbooking. If you want to read about fist bumping, global warming, the "hatred" that is America, and the "inspirational" Jimmy Carter, then this book is for you. If you are looking for a fun read about scrapbooking, this book is most assuredly a PASS.

This second book was just as good as the first and I am enjoying seeing the characters grow. In this latest book we actually see April's estranged husband and more of Mitch as well. The funny part is when she gets an elderly set of roommates that she has to adjust too. It wasn't as easy to tell who the murder was compared to the first book, but you still might guess before the end who it is. I look forward to the next book in this series.

I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the characters and the plot. This is a good book to read curled up in a blanket with a cup of tea.
