This review is from: The Inkheart Trilogy: Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath (Paperback)
March 8,2009:I assume this item for sale containse all 3 Inkheart books, but the description is very unclear. Slipcase X3 ?? Come on! How about clearly stating that this comes with all 3 books, and what their titles are. I don't think I'm the only one who is hesitant about spending [...] bucks when it's not exactly clear what your purchasing ! I'll change my review once I've read the books. But I won't be purchasing this "Slipcase" until I'm sure what it is. New Edit: The title and details have since been updated to reflect that this contains 3 books.

Great series, excellent reading,
This review is from: The Inkheart Trilogy: Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath (Paperback)
The Inkheart trilogy is, put simply, wonderful. I picked up the first book after a recommendation, and tore through it, enchanted by the vivid imagery, intricate plot, and incredibly lifelike characters. The writing is smooth and vibrant, and the passionate love of books shared by Meggie and Mo is infectious. The villains are well-crafted as well; Capricorn, Basta and Mortola, the cruel antagonists of the story, are leagues above the stereotypical baddies found so often in fantasy fiction. The second and third books carry on the story fluidly, and the plot grows more complex as the series progresses. If you're planning on giving these books to a child or teen, be aware that the story does get darker, and the third book seems to be aimed at a slightly older audience than the first two.if you're looking for a series with strong characters, a unique plot and clever writing, then the Inkheart trilogy is what you want!

Now a motion picture. Lots of changes in the movie to Americanize it. Exciting set of books, which didn't need Americanizing. Many fascinating characters, including a really villainous villain. The premise, being able to read things into existance,is very exciting in itself.

I read these with my daughter when she was eleven. We both absolutely loved them. It is true that the first book is slow to get to the exciting parts. Just enjoy the good writing and fine character development, the high adventure will come later.Above all, these are book lovers books, through and through. We loved the quotes from other books and have sought out several of them to read. Suffusing the entire series is a reverence for books and a recognition of their magic. While we read the trilogy, we wallowed in our own love of books..and what could be more fun!

Some cute ideas, some good fantasy, some likeable characters. Ploddingly slow in places and frankly the chief protagonists should have resorted to violence a lot sooner than book three. Just can't get through book three.
