5.0 out of 5 stars Very Suprised That It Was Possible......................, May 30, 2005
This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
I actually stumbled across these ladies on the internet while frantically searching for information on self esteem. I had found myself, once again, very confused and lost with how to even look at myself anymore. I am not religous and had judgements on self help that were less than savory. I honestly wanted someone to talk to, but the prospect of paying for someone to listen felt cheap and almost disgusting. All I felt I needed was a guide, some understanding, and some tools. I can't understand why tools for love and success should cost anyway when the outcome of not having them is so damaging and expensive in all aspects. Anyway, on their website is a PDF file of 40 pages that explains in outstanding clarity and power the 6 steps of inner bonding. It was free. I then spent the next 3-4 hours crying in relief and amazment that I could relate, understand, put to work, and actually FEEL what they were writing about. No, it is not a quick fix, but relief was in sight and could now be actually attained for good. Reading about inner bonding and the whole process was the sweetest and most intimate 3-4 hours that I have had in a very long time. I had not felt that close to myself before. If you are jaded, believe that nothing can fix you, are picky about how you deal with what you know is a never ending destructive cycle, and don't want to pay a dime (yet); read the PDF file from their website. Hopefully, you'll have an open heart, and surrender (the good kind of surrender) enough to let it reach you a little. It doesn't take much. If nothing has worked for you, it's probably because it wasn't realistic, thorough, or relative (or maybe you could always pick it apart). These processes that they explain will relate and you won't be able to help the feeling that your tools have been attained and that with some work (very sweet and true work) your healing will begin and you'll feel free from self destructive cycles, addictions, blame, deppression etc. You owe it to yourself. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning to Play with My Inner Child, June 10, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
I have to say from the outset that I used to think the whole "inner child" thing was a bunch of psychobabble nonsense. Then, I was confronted with some issues in my life that proved me wrong. As is my wont, I immediately began to research "inner child work" and to do some. This book was the most helpful of all that I read. The author talks about the importance of integrating the "child" inside all of us with the "adult" -- bringing the emotional side of our lives into contact with the rational side. I can honestly say that following this author's suggestions has had a huge, positive impact on my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a book about blame or woe is me!, February 6, 1998

This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
A very balanced view for working with our inner child so that we can take responsiblity for where we are in the present and where we want to be in the future. It does not focus on the "poor baby" syndrome and assign blame to others. It helps to identify reasons why we are where we are, but then strongly encourages self responsibility. An excellent book for anyone wanting to grow and take charge of their own life!

This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
As both a clinical therapist, and a person searching for continued growth-I found this book easy to read, insighful and applicable to real life situations. I read a lot of books, and this was one of the better ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Getting to know my child for the first time, June 12, 2004

This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
A great exploration for healing yourself through your own soul. An honest look at how we've abandon that inner voice inside that speaks to us on a daily basis and tells us what we need. The voice that tells us when we are inflicting pain and damage upon it and ourselves. We can actually take our wounds and heal ourselves by becoming a parent to ourselves and protecting that inner "child" or voice. An amazing process of discovering that you are not alone and learning how to love yourself and your child unlike anything ever felt before. Helps the reader understand that only we ourselves are able to take full responsibility for healing the pain that has occured in our lives. The book also gives great exercises on how to heal pain from the past caused by others, without even involving the person who may or may not be in the persons life. A great way to heal the scars left behind and take control of your own life. No more blaming the world for what we have to go through. We can heal ourselves and that is a very powerful concept. Helps enrich not only your life, but everyone around you.

Margie Paul's Inner Bonding concepts and theory is a difficult BUT worthwhile journey. You've got to learn to love the one you're with AND that one is YOU! Don't let the Inner Child and Loving Adult throw you off, keep at it, it works!

3.0 out of 5 stars This book has been disavowed by its author., July 29, 2010
This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
This is an enjoyable, probably harmless book that may help some readers deal with their feelings in gentler, more compassionate ways. It is based on the psychological theory of parts, meaning that feelings are conceptualized as a "child" and thoughts are conceptualized as an "adult." The author contends people feel best when their adult is thinking and acting in supportive ways to their child. Well and good.

Dr. Paul's current web site, essentially renounces the above. Somewhere between the publication of this book and now, Dr. Paul has "gotten religion." The pop psychology is now overlain with a heavy helping of new age "spirituality". Dr. Paul now believes that it is only through the intervention of "Spirit" that our "programmed and limited" minds can comprehend Love or the Truth. She pushes this concept with the fervor of the newly converted. This, despite the fact that there are no published studies in reputable journals that show the effectiveness of her therapy.

There are actually no places on the internet to discuss the current incarnation of Inner Bonding (patented). Dr. Paul meticulously removes all critical comments from her youtube video postings and keeps her facebook page well scrubbed from all but the most glowing comments. Time and time again on her Inner Bonding website Dr. Paul states that there is only one way to reach psychologically happiness. . . and that is through the divine intervention of "Spirit." Needless to say, this profoundly intolerant approach to healing will most likely generate a lot of inner turmoil among readers who do not share this religious framework. By the way, Dr. Paul contends over and over again she is not religious. . . she is "Spiritual." However, her ideas about the necessity for spiritual salvation are straight out of religious texts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best accompanied by certified facilitator, January 3, 2007
By
This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
No doubt about it, the book is very good. My fiancee and I have been reading it. More importantly, we met with a certified facilitator in Anderson, Indiana whom I found on the Inner Bonding web site about a week before we ordered the book. Now when we read the book, we have the palpable experience of inner child contact that the book can refer to, but is simply too remarkable to describe with words. You have to feel this. I could not have been more surprised. I don't know where we will go with Inner Bonding, but we will probably sign up for an intensive. The drive up to Anderson took two hours and the session lasted over an hour. Both of us had a truly remarkable and tangible experience. Buy the book. Meet with a facilitator.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book and process is absolutely amazing!, June 26, 2008
This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
I have had this book for awhile, along with being a member at the InnerBonding.com community for some time and wanted to add my 2 cents about this process. I had spent YEARS in therapy, THOUSANDS on self-help books, and YEARS in massive self-pain, destructive relationships, and feeling absolutely helpless in my life. I came across the Inner Bonding website, and tried the free course. within weeks i saw a significant change in my life, and i have not bought a self-help book or tried any other method since, i don't need to. Inner Bonding is all i need, working with the supportive community is amazing. I am a completely different person, and i owe it all to Inner Bonding. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Life-altering, September 27, 2010
By
This review is from: Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child (Paperback)
All of Margaret Paul's work is amazing, but this book the probably the best place to start learning about the Inner Bonding process. I was skeptical at first, but in a lot of pain, so i invested in all of Dr Paul's books, a membership to her website (which is fabulous!) and sessions with a trained Inner Bonding facilitator. Six months later I was happier, felt freer, more loving and less concerned with what others think or say. I am much more emotionally intelligent and much more in touch with my feelings, but less inclined to take personally the feelings of other people. I recommend this book to anyone who could have a more loving relationship with themselves, in other words, everybody!
