A New perspective,
By "ladyisarma" (Western Washington, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inner Child Cards: A Fairy-Tale Tarot (Cards)
This deck wouldn't have been something I would have normally bought. I have been doing tarot for years, and I thought this deck looked too "fluffy". However, I was delightfully surprised when I found this on Lightworker as an On-line tarot program. Far from thinking "Oh, now I don't have to buy it" I thought "Wow, this deck is really cool, I wonder how much it is". Put it this way, it just went on my wish list... The best thing I love about these cards is, you don't really have to be a tarot reader to use them. Almost everyone knows these stories, even children, and can therefore make use of the symbology and bridge the gap between misunderstood "instrument of Satan" and "subconscious trigger mechanism." For as long as I have been doing tarot, one might think it would be hard for any deck to give me a new perspective, but this one did. Very nice.

Beatiful Artwork,

I am a collector of Tarot cards, more than I am a reader of them. The oil painting-like artwork for this deck is beautiful. The artist utilizes bold and rich colors in keeping with its faery tale theme. Each card in the deck represents a character in a folk or faery tale. The Major Arcana runs it's choices parallel to the archtypes in the typical tarot. For instance, the "Fool" card (Number Zero) is represented in this deck by Little Red Cap (the forerunner to Red Riding Hood- and it is also the card featured on the cover in the picture above.) The High Priestess is the Faery Godmother, the Moon is represented by Cinderella, the Devil is represented by the Big Bad Wolf (a foil to Red Riding Cap and the Three Little Pigs, another card in the Major Arcana). The titles of the cards are the names of the characters, not the archtypes (which are only noted in the book), so parents won't need to be squeamish in trying to explain to curious little seekers what a Heirophant is instead of pointing out Aladdin's Genie. The minor arcana does away with the traditional court cards, meaning no kings or queens, but rather replaced with cards like The Seeker of Wands (all topped with butterfies) or the Guardian of Crystals (replacing the pentacle suit). The accompanying book to the deck is a nice read, but a thicker companion than many of the tarot decks that are on the market right now. Experts may want to skip to the source and insight areas detailing each card. Beginners may be more interested in the different layout and reading options. The cards themselves are larger than normal decks (and harder to shuffle if you have smaller hands) but very detailed. This is a good deck if you are a collector of childrens stories or interested in folklore, and a fun one to look into if you are looking for an alternative/compliment to some more of the somber tarot decks that are out there.

New Insight to Tarot, Astrology and Fairy Tales,
By Estelita Rodriguez (Portland, Oregon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inner Child Cards: A Fairy-Tale Tarot (Cards)
I bought this tarot deck and book and didn't use it for years. I tried unsuccessfully to sell it. Eventually I opened it up and started using the cards. I'm glad I never sold it. This deck has brought me new insight to tarot and my readings. Through reading about each fairytale, corresponding astrology signs, and card numbers, I've been able to see karmic lessons I couldn't see with my regular deck. I've also learned how to read and understand each Major Arcana card better. I recommend it if you like reading about fairy tales and folklore. The pictures are beautiful and well done in a large card that needs to be suffled differently from the smaller decks. The only thing the book fails to do is to give full interpretations of what each card means. But I gave it 5 stars because of the involved work that went into using fairytales to tell us the story behind each card.

Not sure I'd recommend for a beginner, but...,
This review is from: Inner Child Cards: A Fairy-Tale Tarot (Cards)
I have four other tarot card decks - Rider Waite, Medieval Scapini, Celtic Dragon and Shakespearean - and have been told that I'm a very good reader (I've never had a disappointed readee yet). However, I haven't until this point had a deck where I actually "feel" anything physically from the cards. I may sense strong ties with the Rider Waite and be able to tell a story and make connections based on the images, but the vibrations just aren't there (especially with the Medieval Scapini, which I haven't used enough, or the Shakespearean tarot, which has breathtaking artwork but might as well be written in Sanskrit for all the sense I can make of it).
The Inner Child tarot deck is totally different. From the moment I opened the box and held these cards, they felt full and rich and alive. I truly love holding these cards. I can actually feel rather than merely sense when I have shuffled enough, and the readings have so much more depth than the rest of my decks. The metaphorical journey of the soul as a child growing up is so appropriate, I feel, to the journey of the human being, and is beautifully illustrated in the cards and the accompanying book. I love how the cards are explained by Ms. Lerner, and though some of the cards differ from the "standard" deck, her explanations of the cards make sense. As I said in my title, I'm not sure I'd recommend these cards to a beginning reader, as "hearts" for cups and "crystals" for pentacles could be a bit confusing. Of course, "hearts" are what the cups are talking about, and "crystals" makes the Earth portion of the deck seem much less materialistic than pentacles can sometimes read. The artwork also didn't make sense - coming from a Rider Waite background - on some of the cards until I read the explanation, and then it was abundantly clear how the meaning of the cards tied in with the illustrations, and the tie-ins are wonderful. Ms. Lerner puts a positive spin to the cards, which some people may not like. I feel it's appropriate, as how life affects you depends largely on how you look at it. For instance, the Tower (in this deck Rapunzel) is only a bad thing if you don't like or resist change. If you look for the growth in the change, try to find what the experience is trying to teach you and try to take something from it (which admittedly is not always easy), then at the very least you'll learn how to roll with the punches and be better prepared the next time some massive upheaval disrupts your life. So, while many people may find this positive spin to be a bad thing, I don't believe it is. I believe it's a benefit of the deck, unlike, for instance, the Celtic Dragon tarot, which is beautiful but never has anything to say other than doom and gloom, no matter how many readings I do with it (and I unfortunately know many readers who say the same thing about that particular deck). Though it may sound trite, Monty Python really did say it best when they advised to "Always look on the bright side of life". This deck helps one do that and truly shows that there are lessons to be learned in all that we do. It is a very spiritually grounded deck and I feel very powerful. I certainly feel it's a good deck for anyone interested in developing spiritually. Since I am well versed in fairy tales, some of the descriptions do seem long and even redundant, especially for the major arcana, but I am very aware that not everyone is as familiar with all the fairy tales used as I am and I would not hold this against the deck. I really can't say enough good things about this deck - the cards are simply wonderful to hold, they vibrate with a beautiful energy, and the child-like drawings are lovely. Though I don't do readings for children, anyone who does would be pleased with these, I'm sure. I highly recommend these to anyone serious about the tarot.

Isha Lerner brings through profound wisdom in her cards that have both captured the essence and brought solutions to any difficulty I was facing. Every time I drew cards, they were so on target, that I felt myself uplifted, inspired and genuinely guided towards wholeness. I highly recommend Inner Child Cards to anyone who wants to connect with their true self, the beautiful child within that we may have forgotten about, as we became adults. I own many different card decks, however, this one is my favorite of all. Highly recommended for inner healing!

I have around 20 Tarot decks and I got this one in just this week. I have to say it is one of my very favorite decks already. The artwork is brilliant and almost child-like, but beautifully enlightening. The suits are hearts (cups), crystals (pentacles), magic wands (wands) and swords. The cards relate to characters from well-known fairy tales. The Fool card is Little Red Riding Hood.
The accompanying book very succinctly and eloquently describes the meaning/tales behind each card. It's a very positive, uplifting and upbeat deck. I did the five card C-H-I-L-D reading (described in the book) this morning and it was right-on, as if the cards had known me from the get-go. I don't think I've ever gotten such a wonderful first-time reading from a new deck. I have to disagree with the reviewer who said this deck isn't for beginners. I think this deck stands alone and that anyone could quickly learn the basics of Tarot with it. The cards are over-sized but easy to shuffle diagonally. They come in a sturdy storage box which holds the cards and book nicely. I highly recommend this set if you're ready to learn more about yourself and this journey we call life.

Powerful..Powerful..Powerful...Isha Lerner has been a mentor of mine for years and I cannot say enough about how her works have changed my life...I started out with her first set "Then Inner Child". The child within immediately responds to these cards...even to the size of the card...my hand size felt childlike as I handled them and the artwork effects you as well. I have added "The Inner Child and all her others to my own collection and will never part with them ! I highly recommend...and be ready for the profound changes in your own life.

Amazingly Accurate,

I have always been one to steer away from traditional Tarot cards because I am a very positive person and don't feel comfortable with the potential to receive "negative" messages from such cards. I had never tried using Tarot cards before, yet I was strongly drawn to these cards for about 3 months before I finally bought them and started using them. I was amazed at the accuracy of my readings. They have all been very, very accurate and have been tremendously helpful to those for whom I have done readings. I have been in awe of the accuracy of their messages and I thoroughly enjoy passing on my readings to those requesting them. The enlightenment and guidance that people receive through these cards have been beyond my greatest expectations. I plan to offer as many readings as I can. The cards are beautifully illustrated and their messages, based upon traditional fairy tale themes and characters help to make the reading s very positive and even somewhat playful. I also find that there is a tremendous amount of information available to those receiving readings, and the contemplation and refelection required following the reading is a great help in enhancing self-awareness and enlightenment. I would recommend these cards to anyone interested in helping others with positive and life enriching guidance.

I really have nothing bad to say about this deck, the only thing is that they are very large, which makes them difficult to handle and shuffle, but there's so much detail that they really need to be that size! The book that goes with it is forever helpful. Each and every reading is different, and always noticing something new. The artwork is beutiful and sometimes I just like to look at them! 5 stars all the way. I wouldn't want any other deck, I've looked and looked and just had to come back to this one!

I am terminally ill, and I purchased these to see if they could be a form of comfort & guidance. First of all I have never seen a more beautiful set of tarot cards. The artwork is just amazing, from the ornate and delicate borders to the central images. Each and every card is so highly intuitive: you could pull any card and just gaze and gaze at it and find so many meanings and surprises. Large sized cards, but they are easy to shuffle using the side-by-side technique. The very large guidebook that comes with the cards takes you by the hand and gently into the cards and its world of tender, humane fairytales. It has helped me immeasurably as a sorce of comfort, guidance, tenderness in my illness.. I would recommend these to ANYONE who is: ill or elderly, or trying to recover from an emotional trauma of some sort (divorce, bad relationship, loss of loved one, etc.) These cards are a godsend.
