More About the Author

Jim Murphy is a Performance Coach that works with elite athletes and teams as well as various businesses. A former professional baseball player in the Chicago Cubs organization, Jim played five years professionally before moving on to coaching. He has coached professionally and in the Olympics, serving as the hitting and conditioning coach for one of the biggest upsets in Olympic baseball history (South Africa defeats Holland in 2000).

In one twelve month period, Jim consulted for three different teams, all of which had their best seasons in 22 years, 41 years, and 62 years (two of which won national championships).

His first book, Dugout Wisdom: Ten Principles of Championship Teams has been called "One of the most important baseball books to ever hit the shelves" by Collegiate Baseball. As a graduate student studying human performance, he interviewed 39 of the top Major League Baseball managers, GM's and college coaches in the game.

Jim's latest book, Inner Excellence: Achieve Extraordinary Business Success Through Mental Toughness, has been recommended by Indigo/Chapters, Canada's largest bookstore chain.

For Inner Excellence, Jim spent 5 years of full-time research, studying extraordinary people around the world including world champions, special forces units, and some of the world's top sport psychologists.

This was excellent. There are great concepts and real- world examples that bring his points across. It is communicated in such a fantastic way that only a master of the science could do. This could be a great manual for any athlete, but most importantly any person. It's worked for me. Enjoy!

Inner excellence is a motivating and inspiring mental toughness book. As an elite athlete I found Inner Excellence to be extremely helpful in my mental training. Murphy touches on many important aspects of success, one of the biggest being how to live a more fulfilled life. Murphy's perspective on how to live in the moment and have poise under pressure is refreshing and powerful. Inner Excellence has greatly impacted my way of life, and I can sincerely say that it has changed the way I think about the universe.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to achieve extraordinary experiences on a regular basis.
