4.0 out of 5 stars Tres Mystique
Inner Mystique is perfect for the music lover who romanticizes about the rock n roll revolution of the Sixties. With each listen, Inner Mystique sucks you into the portal of what the Sixties were all about politically, socially, and musically. It's rebellious; it's innovative; it's electric Bob Dylan; it's Byrds-esque at times. Truly, Inner Mystique is a masterpiece, a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Give me some good strong chords.
This was the second album by '60s garage band lengends the Chocolate Watchband. The band actually broke up before they recorded a second album, but that didn't stop producer Ed Cobb. He took a few leftover Watchband tracks, recorded some new tracks without the group, and released it as an album. The three songs performed by the actual Chocolate Watchband ("I Ain't No...

4.0 out of 5 stars Chocolate Watchband - 'The Inner Mystique' (Sundazed), May 16, 2005
This review is from: Inner Mystique (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1968, looks to be the Watchband's second of three lp's they put out in their brief existence between 1965-68. The first three cuts on this CD reissue "Voyage Of The Trieste", "In The Past" and the title track "Inner Mystique" are really good psychedelic tunes and two of them were penned by famed record producer Ed Cobb. The rest of the CD are pretty much your standard (but good) garage rock. Liked "Let's Go,Let's Go,Let's Go", Bob Dylan's "Baby Blue", "She Weaves A Tender Trap" and the catchy "Sweet Young Thing". Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars the bands swan song, August 20, 2011

The band was gone, a early victim to the excesses that would wipe out tons of people later. although there were no deaths here but they floated apart evidently and the producer took leftover songs and mixed them with psych out songs that are pretty cool actually but not of the bands doing. THe band was a garage band and that's what they were truly about and not hippiedom really. That was just a backdrop. This is well worth owning imo , you get some cool garage rock songs and some psych rock songs and some bonus tracks too.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best garage band in the psychedelic era, January 24, 2001

Overally speaking it's in normal garage band standard. The covers are not very inspiring, to be frank, usually with some hard-rock or garage rock feel. However, the first 3 tracks really shines, and these three raga-psychedelic music are excellent examples of music of any kind. So I gave 4 stars. However, if you find any collections that contains the first 3 songs, then better buy that.

This was the second album by '60s garage band lengends the Chocolate Watchband. The band actually broke up before they recorded a second album, but that didn't stop producer Ed Cobb. He took a few leftover Watchband tracks, recorded some new tracks without the group, and released it as an album. The three songs performed by the actual Chocolate Watchband ("I Ain't No Miracle Worker", the Kinks' "I'm Not Like Everybody Else" and Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue") are great, although "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" is somewhat ruined by the overdubbing of psychedelic flourishes. The "new" songs are a mixed bag. There are a couple of psychedelic instrumentals that are kind of boring. The rest of the songs are pretty average garage rock, with "In the Past" being above average. The CD adds four bonus tracks, which are all great songs taken from singles released by the original lineup of the group. Thankfully, the original undubbed version of "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" is among them, along with the classics "She Weaves a Tender Trap", "Misty Lane" and "Sweet Young Thing". The CD also has an unlisted bonus track, which consists of about a minute of the instrumental backing track to "Misty Lane".
