5.0 out of 5 stars Ahead of its time, July 21, 2007
This review is from: Innermeans (Audio CD)
Innermeans was certainly ahead of their time, and that is probably why they didn't become as popular as some other spirit-filled hardcore bands. They sound somewhat like a heavier version of Overcome

4.0 out of 5 stars one of my favorite albums of all time, February 7, 2002

i love this ep. featuring sean stopnik of the highly genius and tragicly underappreciated bloodshed, innermeans features a heavier and rawer sound. often compared to coalese (though not as chaotic), innermeans tears apart everything. compacted into 4 songs, the self titled ep begins with high pitched guitar feedback and gibberish radio transmissions and ends perfectly on an echoing snare drum.
playing fast, heavy, emotional, new school hardcore, i wish more bands sounded like this, or that they hadn't broken up.
tearing the lid off everything, the opener "bloodguilt" is savage. the following tracks "falling time" and "dischord" fall in the same line as the others, but are distintive enough themselves to stand out (besides, that's not a complaint as the bands sound and style are in my opinion perfect). it's the closing track "casualtyofme" that is my personal favorite. it's the perfect close to a frantic album as it tears and grinds then ends on a perfect echoing snare hit.
i have heard a lot of people complain that the singers vocals are too high, though they don't bother me (and is why i gave this ep 4 out of 5 stars) but the music has always been refered to as incredible. innermeans tragicly broke up awhile ago. i believe solid state still holds this ep in stock (and i think it sold for like $4 in stores) and is well worth your time. for fans of coalese, zao, and focal point.

(sean stopnik also played guitar in bloodshed, and now plays in stairwell, and the drummer and bassist (i think) both play in project 86 as well as crash rickshaw)

4.0 out of 5 stars Hardcore is so nice, May 15, 2001

This ep is an excellent buy. The music is solid, the singer has a high scream, and the guitars are fast and boast some speedy riffs. Eventually the band Project 86 came from some of the members of this band. Very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars oh woe is me, October 3, 2000

Oh woe is me this incredible phat hardcore band only put out one cd and the cd only had four songs on it. This cd is one of the best things ever put out by ToothandNail/Solid State. It all begins with the screaming of You!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The blood begins to pump and the sweat begins to issue forth from your pores as some of the scariest vocals and most brutal of hardcore bands destroys you while simultaneously praising God on high. This cd is incredible I highly recommend it. God bless andy
