There are two camps of people: those who love the 'Harvest Moon' franchise, and those who make fun of us who love the 'Harvest Moon' franchise, and there really isn't any room in-between.

I was shocked to realize that I had missed an installment of the Harvest Moon universe so I had to pick up Innocent Life. While it is very different from the other harvest moon games, the differences are interesting enough to keep you captivated.

The controls take a while to get used to. Mainly select is triangle instead of X except when you're getting into storage boxes...then it's O for some weird reason.

The story is good: Save the Island from blowing up. No biggie.

What I liked was not being confined to the town anymore. There is a whole island to explore and you get a dune buggy and tent to do it with! There are even a sort "dungeons" with small puzzles to solve to advance through.

What I didn't like was you don't have to take care of your animals other than brushing them...and even then you don't really have to do that. Animals take a huge backseat in this game...they're almost pointless really. I also hated the Bas&ket Rail system. (yeah that's how it's spelled) It's supposed to work like a train set...I could never make it work well enough to justify using, but that could just be me.

All in all it's a great game. Different from all the other harvest moons by far, but still a good game in your own right. I think it's a nice addition and a breath of fresh air to farming life!

There are two camps of people: those who love the 'Harvest Moon' franchise, and those who make fun of us who love the 'Harvest Moon' franchise, and there really isn't any room in-between.

"Innocent Life" is a pretty standard, almost sub-par version of the story that we are all familiar with, but with a few twists. New to this hybrid is a futuristic storyline where you are playing as a robot in an island full of mystery and technology. You start out the game living in some ancient ruruns, but with a lot of new technology.

And this new spin is interesting, but it isn't enough to carry the game. Old things such as festivals, courtship/marriage, and even fishing have been left at the wayside to make room for unusual robots, quirky spells, and the like.

While its not a horrible trip to the "innocent life" its definately not compelling as other recent installments such as "rune factory" and "magical melody".

This game Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon Special Edition was a totally great game. I am 47 and I have not yet gotten to play the game as my two children, ages 19 and 11 , have taken it over. My daughter, who is 19, has already beaten the game. However my son, who is 11, is taking his time enjoying the role play of it. He is a gardener by heart and nature so this game fits well with him. Both have spent countless hours playing it. They got introduced to the first Harvest Moon games by my brother, their Uncle Bill. They have told him that as soon as they are through playing it they will let him borrow it to play. Looks like I will not be playing it for quite some time. All in all I am happy to watch them play for now. I give this game an awesome rating. The graphics are great as is the various story lines one can take on their journey through the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Innocently Excellent, February 17, 2009

Made from Natsume, I had high expectations of this game. The Harvest Moon series, from which this game is derived, has been a source of excellent gameplay free of the violent themes which are so prevalent in many of today's video games.

I never had a problem playing violent games, but my nieces and nephew needed a more positive experience, and this game (as well as the rest of the series) fit the bill perfectly! Who knew that a game based on work could be so entertaining? Though strictly a niche title, I highly recommend this or any other Harvest Moon game for people looking for a light-hearted escape from real life... just be careful. It's quite addictive!

It's very different from the other Harvest Moon games, but equally as good!!! Some things in the game are tedious and repetitive, but its still pretty good!

Game was awesome. Beat the main storyline twice within a two week period. Felt a couple parts of the game could have been improved or removed, but overall, an excellent game!

As a long-time Harvest Monn fan, I anxiously awaited this game to come out and bought it right off. I am glad I did, I am so pleased with it, it is #1 GORGEOUS, the graphis are stunning, so pretty to looka at and the art is very unique and beautiful. #2 the gameplay is easy and fast and fun, not at all frustrating or confusing. #3 the story is amazing, such a cool idea, sad, thoughtful, very well done.

This game screams quality, I can't believe it is not more popular, and honestly (coming from a HM fan) I think it's better than Harvest Moon. Yes, better. So if your a big fan of Harvest Moon, rune Factory, Animal Crossing and games like that, you need to add this to your collection.

This will be one of those games that came out late and everybody missed it due to newer systems and games. But, seriously games of this quality and substance are hard to find, so pull out the ol' PS and get this game! You will not regret it. =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Off the beaten path and yet fully Harvest Moon, May 4, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

Though very much like "Harvest Moon - Save the Homeland" in its being mission oriented, it has a one singular mission, saving Heartflame Island. As with other Harvest Moon titles, you grow crops and place them in the shipper. You also can get up to three pets, unlike Save the Homeland or Wonderful Life. Then you can get up to five each of chickens, sheep, and cows. Further, you do not need to order a machine for making cheese or even milking the cows. You will also spend time exploring the island while a robot (never mind you are also a robot) waters the crops and cleans the farm for you.

As time progresses you need to find crystals to unlock the seals on the farm, which is located on the top of a ruined building. Unlocking these seals unlock other parts of the island. With each area that is unlocked, you have the opportunity to learn new things and meet new people.

A fully worthy title in the Harvest Moon family and a thoroughly enjoyable game for the whole family.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, but...., April 24, 2011
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon Special Edition (Video Game)
This game is awesome, but at the end credits, it says to be continued in my LIFE. I searched it here and I saw this again! Also, one time I made a mistake, and I went to a walkthrough and it was kept on showing it past where it ends. I think perhaps you have to continue it. Another thing is that if you don't meet the Harvest Sprite of Memory by the second ring in Winter, then it's 'game over.' But all in all, an awesome story, great characters, and another fantastic Harvest Moon! I definitely recommend it to everybody!

My Mom and I really like playing the Harvest Moon games. She needed a new game for her PS2.
She says that this is harder then the standard Harvest Moon. She has started over twice.
She is enjoying the new challenge.
