I saw Lisa Moscatiello as the warm up act to another performer. I was highly impressed and bought this CD at the concert. I've since bought her second CD, "Second Avenue" (also recommended), and given her albums to others as gifts.
Her voice is one of the best around--great range, emotional depth, shading and color. She's not a songwriter (although she did pen a couple good ones on her follow up album "Second Avenue." She is an excellent judge of material, though. This album spans from English traditional folk to contemporary and jazz and torch songs. (The title tune is by Tom Waits.) All are well done with excellent arrangements. Check her out. |
