This review is from: The Innocents at Home (Hardcover)
British villages with lush vegetation, colorful gardens and church fetes etc. Well this is not one of those. People are grotesque, children are bad seed, and the only bright light are police. John Buxton Hilton died over 20 years ago, but his police procedurals didn't blend into the background of run of the mill village mysteries. His detachment and dry sense of humor, very visible in this book, make him an original writer, and one well worth of reading and rereading for years to come.Very enjoyable and ,for its time, risque novel.
