Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Don't be fooled by its pocket-sized handheld transmitter--this easy-to-use micro remote two-dog trainer delivers an array of advanced features found in much bulkier units. The system provides a range of up to 300 yards, nine stimulation levels, a plus-two boost option, a tone-only training option, and a backlit LCD digital display. Rechargeable lithium ion batteries quickly charge in about two hours, and the highly advanced, integrated collar offers a remarkably thin and comfortable design. Used properly, the receiver collar delivers an electronic stimulus that dogs find undesirable. By obeying, the dog quickly learns to shut off the stimulation, thus gaining confidence in response to human commands.

For added convenience, the system's exclusive ReadyTest produces a brief, pleasant clicking to indicate the perfect collar fit, plus it shows the three-way battery charge status and warns of potential system problems. The 4-ounce receiver measures 2-3/4 by 3/4 by 1-1/4 inches, the 2-ounce hand-held transmitter measures 1-3/4 by 3/4 by 4-1/8 inches, the collars fit neck sizes 8 to 24 inches, and the system carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Innotek recommends dogs be at least six months old before starting a remote training program. For the safety of the dog, a long lead should be used during initial training to ensure control of the situation. If the dog shows signs of growling, snarling, or biting while using the collar, stop immediately and consult a professional dog trainer or animal behaviorist.

Please note that this review is for the IUT-302 ultrasmart remote trainer for 2 dogs. This is the system that comes with a remote control and two collars - it is not a containment system or a bark control system. This is the system to help train your dog.

This system does what I hoped it would do for me and my two dogs. I like the +2 feature, and the tone only option. I also like that it's the collar the emits the tone, not the remote. This way if I want to give one of my dogs a positive tone, although the other is still misbehaving they won't both get the positive reinforcement - only the dog I intend to. The +2 option is useful for those times when my dogs are being REALLY stubborn, particularly at the off-leash dog park. I find that it helps me get my dogs' attention, and that is really what it is meant to do. It doesn't hurt them, but it does surprise them out of their stubborn moods they get in. I have tried the collars on my arm at the levels I use on the dogs and it doesn't hurt. It surprises me, even though I'm expecting it (I'm giving myself the correction) and that is what it is meant to do. It just gets their attention. I can get their attention much easier than with a collar and leash alone, especially if they are off leash. If they are off leash, and in their own little worlds, sometimes I think a bomb could go off and they wouldn't ever notice, let alone hear me and my commands. But this helps me get their attention back so I don't have to go off chasing two dogs all over a park who really don't want to load back up into the car to go home.

My only complaint is that every once in a while when I go to use it the remote won't come on. I have tried re-seating the battery, shaking it a little, tightening the door, pushing buttons, holding it close to the collars, and even putting a new battery in. Hours or days later though when I go to use it again - voila! It'll work just fine without a hitch. The system is easy to use, easy to set up, and has a lot of good training information with it. Their website also has a good training video to use with the collars.

Works and doesn't hurt. September 23, 2007

This works as advertised. We were hesitant to use this but while researching and talking to others we realized it was the right solution. After 2 days of only using the number 1 setting and the number 2 setting once or twice it now works with only the tone. The dogs no longer bark at the fence, dig, or stray. We did remove the smaller contacts and replace it with the larger after the first day. We also tried them on our arms and it wasn't painful.

This is a good product and works well but the collar must be left on at all times in order to be consistant.
