4.0 out of 5 stars Handy Dandy
Gave two of these for Christmas and they were very well received. My husband liked them so well he asked me to order one for him. He uses it daily in the shop, to walk the dog, to see some detail better, etc. The way it stands makes it very convenient. Adjustable light level is nice. Price is a little high. No one can have too many kinds of flashlight.

Living in Florida, it sure came in handy, along with other more powerful LED lights, after hurricane Wilma! For just lighting a room in a 360 degree manner, I prefer the battery powered Coleman fluorescents for safety and uniform fairly bright lighting.

Compared to other LED lights I have, it has less than 1/2 the light output per LED (these must be older style LEDs) and is 1/2 to 1/3 the price if you pay $6 to $10 for it, compensating fairly pricewise for the decreased output.

The other LED lights I have are sturdy aluminum lights; this is an inexpensive plastic light that is fine for around the house. Don't take it outdoors/tent camping intended for sturdy use, it's not made of metal and won't hold up to being knocked about or dropped.

For the price under $10, I'd recommend getting one or two for the home. It's not cutting edge LED technology, it has weaker LED output, it's more of a spotlight than a room light, however it's 20 /10 LED output option and tilt feature lets it provide a decent amount of light for the money.

For 10 bucks, you can't go wrong. I paid $20(with shipping)on ebay and love it. Don't expect a 'spotlight'though. LED ligts don't have a long 'throw', but for walking or changing a tire or an area light, like in a tent, it's ideal. It emits a nice almost pure white 'smooth' beam. which will dim when he batteries weaken, but doesn't 'yellow'. The 10-light feature conserves batteries. I only gave it 3 stars because I would have liked a little more 'heavy-weight'construction, and even though I find the output sufficient, I wish it were brighter. Buy it - you'll like it.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok for the right price, December 23, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Innovage Outdoor 20 LED Lantern (Sports)
I received this item when it was on sale for ten dollars. It runs off of D batteries or if you have an adapter you can plug it in the bottom.

The head pivots and I have not had the other reported problem of light intensity changing while pivoting the head.

The light is dual power. It has two rows of ten led's and you can operate one or both rows. The light is meant to be a flood light. It is good for general illumination but it is not designed to be carried around or thrown around too much. It is made of hard plastic and the quality leaves much to be desired.

I would not pay more than ten dollars for each light.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap-o Construction, Poor Output. Quite Bad., November 3, 2005

Very junky. EXTREMELY junky. LED technology has come a tremendous way in the past few years, with companies like Surefire, Streamlight, and ARC, making small, handheld flashlights with LED bulbs that create excellent, even surprising amounts of light, drain batteries much slower than incandescents, are extremely shockproof, and pretty much never need replacing.

This innovage features 20 LED's that appear to be of the "old and lame" variety. No doubt such LED's are cheap, and in great supply. The amount of light this thing produces is paltry, embarrassing even. It also features that horrible lightweight helium-air balloon feel. It feels like what it is, a very cheap plastic unit thrown together in China. By selling a product like this, Innovage is strongly giving the message "We're going to let flimsy feeling junk made in China have our name on it. Be sure to avoid us for your future needs."

I got it for $10, so I'll keep it, but that $10 should have been spent on something from one of the companies mentioned above, or some other LED lantern.

I got this item as a gift last holiday season and it's excellent. Comes in handy when the lights go out! It could be a little brighter, but for the price, you can't beat it.

5.0 out of 5 stars My constant companion, December 22, 2006

This review is from: Innovage Outdoor 20 LED Lantern (Sports)
I bought one of these lamps last summer. I pulled it off the shelf and inserted 3 D batteries in preparation for the December Devastation wind storm here in the Puget Sound. We were without power for 5 days and this little baby was my best friend. Although I didn't have it on constantly, I did use it for many hours each day, making numerous trips to the dark garage looking for axes, newspaper, wood and other supplies since the garage was also our refrigerator. In the evenings, it was on most of the time while I cooked on my stovetop fireplace and outside barbecue and did dishes in the kitchen. I would only part with it if someone needed to use the bathroom. Placed on the countertop and pointed upward at the mirror, it lit up the bathroom wonderfully. The batteries never ran out and the light never got weak. That was a good thing, because we started looking for replacement batteries everytime we went out and we could not find D batteries anywhere. Pointed directly at a work space, it was very bright and convenient with it's up-down pivoting head. Pointed at the ceiling, it lit up the whole room. It was comfortable to carry by it's neck, but I often found my hands full walking up and down the stairs. It is not heavy, so I would just hang it by it's metal hanger off my pinky finger. I plan to buy a couple of these. I'll keep some and give some as gifts. They really are great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value for what you pay, November 3, 2005
This review is from: Innovage Outdoor 20 LED Lantern (Sports)
For less than 10 bucks it's a great buy. This light is bright enough for camping, outdoor walks, as emergency light in the car or for indoors use during blackouts. If you have an ac adapter or rechargable batteries, it will work as nice desk/reading lamp also.

I would have given it 5 stars if it had proper dimmable switch, not just 10/20 LED option.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Bright Led desk lamp, February 22, 2006
This review is from: Innovage Outdoor 20 LED Lantern (Sports)
Well I bought mine at a Dollar General for 8 bucks. This light runs on three D batteries. Its pretty bright. I probably got a good one. Usually the leds start flickering after they heat up. I had mine on for an hour. I went outside light up the lawn and the my truck. Its probably about 70 lumens. I was looking for a desk lamp for my workstattion. I got a great Led desk lamp.

On the down side if your looking for a handheld traveling light its pretty bulky not small.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for my needs, November 29, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Innovage Outdoor 20 LED Lantern (Sports)
After the "Big" Hawaii earthquake last month which knocked out the electrity in Honolulu for over 14 hours it was obvious an emergency light better than candles was needed. I wanted something to read by especially and when I tried this it's perfect. I'm not taking it out so the rather flimsy constrution is fine. And for my purpose anything over 15-20 bucks seemed excessive.
