5.0 out of 5 stars Safe storage for your nano "specimens"
It's important to keep the specimen tubes that the nanos come in! It's these specimen tubes that fit into the case, not just the individual bugs! I don't know if you can replace specimen tubes, and I luckily hadn't thrown mine away before I realized that they are intended for permanent safe storage of my hexbug nanos. If you haven't saved your test tube packages, this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, Buttttt.....
Well the idea is a solid one, and the case itself ok, but maybe a bit too bulky for what it is. Besides that, the tops do not stay on the tubes so after you go through putting them all to bed and strapping them in, the next time you go to open it up the little creatures are all over the place along with their orange caps. I suppose if you kept the plastic insert that the...

The company markets their hexbug nanos as "specimens" in test tubes. You can look up each specific bug, register it online, and keep them in this binder, safely tucked away in their individual "specimen tubes."

This will fit the hexbug if you use the specimen tube that the bugs come with. Nice way to store the many hexbugs Santa brought.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 6 year old niece loves this specimen case, August 24, 2011

I bought this for my niece's 6th birthday. She is obsessed with hex bugs. The case is much larger than it looks in the photo, which is nice, and makes the price seem not so bad. All the hex bug tubes fit easily, yet snugly, in the little elastic loops. As others have noted, you need to keep the bugs' tubes, because the tubes go in the loops in the case. My sister-in-law likes the case because it keeps all the hex bugs secure in their tubes and all in one place--not rolling about underfoot all over the house. My niece thought the look/design of the case was so wonderful, that she removed the storage boards and announced that she was saving the case for when she got an i-pad (not likely to happen any time soon) because it would make an excellent i-pad case! All in all, it was a hit with parents and child, and is still being used (with the boards back inside), 3 months after her birthday.

My 7 year old grandson found the case easy to use and the size was not cumbersome. It holds quite a few test tubes. thought perhaps a zipper pouch to store extra button cell batteries would be nice. My grandson suggested a strap or handle to carry it with. Overall the case seems durable.

I suppose if you kept the plastic insert that the bugs came in it may be a better fit, but seriously, what 4 year old is going to put them all away like that? Hmmmm, could-a thought that one through a little more.

This carrying case is a wonderfull tool for keeping your child's hexbug Nano tubes in one location! It is a quality made item and is made to last the wear and tear that it can receive from a child.

The "bugs" don't fit well into the case. For some reason, the spaces are too big and the "bugs" don't stay put.

I hate bugs of any kind but these are sooooo cute! All of the grandchildren had fun with them. Big hit! I will probably buy more in the future.
