Economical choice, great performance, May 16, 2005
I purchased this light to use on an extended canoe trip (2 weeks)with my sons. The light is plenty bright for what we need and it barely "sips" at the battery. I tested it for voltage drain and used batteries that were already too dead to run anything else (.9 - 1.15 volts remaining). Eight hours later the light was still going strong and voltage had dropped in each AA battery (4 needed) by approximately .01 (that's 1/100) volt per hour of use! At this rate, one set of AA batteries will last the whole trip. This appears to be a sturdy little unit that will be a handy addition to our excursion!

Great functionality but prone to corrosion, July 5, 2011
This review is from: Innovative Portable LED Bow Light with Suction Cup (Sports)
I agree with the reviewers who state how bright and efficient these lights are. I bought four for my two kayaks (bow and stern for each), and a fifth for parts when Wifey broke a lens, and they have performed very well - until they started to corrode internally.
These lights are advertised as waterproof. I've never used mine in salt water, and I've never dunked my lights in freshwater. I'm not sure they have even been in the rain. Yet the terminals, especially at the bottom, have corroded, and two of the lights have switches that have started to "leak" (when I turn the switch to the off position, the light continues to burn at a dimmer rate - I can't shut it off).
Like another reviewer, I was dismayed by the lack of concern I received when I phoned Innovative Lighting. They seemed unwilling to cop to the facts, and offered to sell me replacement parts. I doubt if anyone there is eating steak or retiring early because of my purchases, but I did buy five of these things. Maybe a little understanding and some give and take?
So if you buy these lights, you'll love their efficiency and mounting. They appear to have more O-rings and water seals than a submarine has! But it appears condensation forms inside and the terminals corrode, and the switches fail.
Safety first and foremost!

Find another alternative, June 16, 2011
This review is from: Innovative Portable LED Bow Light with Suction Cup (Sports)
I'm not sure who the people are who have been rating this five stars, but we purchased two bow and two stern lights to outfit our kayaks for night use. The first failed within three months and within one year, we had three bad units. They leak, they corrode, and when I called the manufacturer, they blew me off. We now use 12V systems with portable batteries. Much more dependable and efficient. I'll never try their products again.
