5.0 out of 5 stars Lovecraft Lives! April 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been a fan of Lovecraft's work since I read "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" as a teen. The weird works of him and R.E. Howard have always fascinated me, and my extensive book collection has not only Lovecraft collections but also so many newer anthologies, especially anything even remotely having to do with Cthulhu mythos.

I am also an author and I remember when these issues were first released and how excited I was to submit to them. I believe I sent out two stories, thinking they were Lovecraftian enough and would easily be published. They were both rejected. At the time I had no idea why and thought the publishers insane.

After reading the four issues included in this collection, I see I was the insane one. Story after story was amazing, and I couldn't wait to get to the next. I read this over the course of 24 hours and want more.

Obviously, the stories with direct plotlines to Lovecraft and Cthulhu and the like were my favorites, but there are so many other stories in these issues that have a slight connection but tie in so well with the others before and after.

Highly recommended, not only if you're a huge Lovecraft fan, but if you like weird horror in general. Will be getting my hands on the second collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars New hope for Lovecraftians May 7, 2012
By chrisam
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Right away, I have to say "grab it, what a bargain!" Longtime fans of the master and newcomers can't help but love this deal. You get the first 4 issues of the mag crammed with stories by the hottest new HPL devotees. And no reprints so far as I know.
This I find to be far superior to HPL's Magazine published by Willdside Press a few years ago, not to say that was bad either. I was a subsciber.
But really friends, jump on this. 4 issues for 4 bucks. Oh, did I mention the cover art? The portrait of Asenath Waite on issue 1 is to die for literally. I feel like a fool for forgettlng the artist's name.
You'll find out when you buy this, as I know you must. Have I ever misled you on things Lovecraftian?

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic June 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've read many issues of Innsmouth Magazine apart from these first four issues. All of the stories are of high quality. An early favorite is David Conyers' "The Swelling." It's exciting to see all of these pieces collected in one edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price February 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Highly recommend if you are an H.P.Lovecraft enthusiast. Good variety of stories, although all related in some way to the Lovecraft mythologies. People that are not familiar with this genre may find it a little confusing or weird, I think some previous knowledge of the whole Cthulu, Innsmouth, creepy fish-men tales makes the stories a little less bizarre and farfetched.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun! November 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The magazine HP Lovecraft would have written for if he were alive today. It encompasses the best of Lovecraftian horror and presents new perspectives on some well used tropes of weird fiction.

A quality publication with quality stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb new additions to the Mythos February 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The first couple of.stories are rickety, but most of the collection is solid gold. A couple of the stories were so eerie I lost sleep and had to stop reading. I highly recommend this and would also recommend a subscription. HP would be proud.

3.0 out of 5 stars Water Works April 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
By The Sea, By The Sea by Caroline Totten
A little sister is born. A purplish creature with scales. "Innsmouth people don't live long" the farther said to his oldest daughter. And her sister only lived those two years. And buried at sea. ★★★ interesting short story.

Paula Stiles's swimming lessons take place on the North Shore, but a boy afraid off water turns into a horseback riding event. Great suspense ★★★★

Beneath The Red City by Matthew Bey
A man on the third floor lives for the Red City dwellers. The dogs he feeds the guts of men and woman. A gore classic ★★★★★

Nature VS Nurture by Orrin Grey
After capturing a ghoul a man raises it from infancy to a full grown gorilla sized creature. ★★★★★

Red Goat Black Goat by Nadia Bulkin
"Don't touch the goats" the babysitter is told. Goats who watch over the children with a great twist. Mytho horror mix ★★★.5

The Mountain that Eats Men by Caleb Jordan Schultz ★★★

Estelle Makes the Casino Run by Pamela Rentz ★★
A really good horror but what was attacking the bus. Kinda reminded me of Twilight Zone's "There is something on the Wing" 2 stars because ending was horrible.
