Inov8 Roclite 288 GoreTex Trail Shoe. This is a unique, ultralight Gore-Tex Boot. This has high levels of comfort and performance with a waterproof membrane. Meta-Flex - this boot incorporates a meta-flex groove which is anatomically aligned in front of the metatarsal heads to provide a natural fore foot flex and protection whilst running. Met Cradle - The upper webbing support in this boot is anatomically positioned to cradle the fore foot behind the metatarsal heads and provide a secure foot hold whilst running. Fascia Band - This band is a replication of the plantar fascia ligament to increase propulsion efficiency and reduce fatigue in the foot. Three arrow midsole - which gives mid level cushioning to the wearer. Sticky Rubber Compound - this shoe uses Inov8's exclusive sticky rubber compund which has been specially developed using climbing rubber technology. This rubber optimizes grip in wet conditions, however the trade off is it wears down quicker. Performance Last - precise fitting last ensures minimal internal movement when contouring, ascending and descending. TPU Lacing Support - lacing attached polymer upper supports and cradles the foot more evenly. Unisex Last - built on a last based of an average runner's foot giving a good fit for both male and female Weight - 288g. Ideal for trail, ultra light walking and mountain running with ankle protection. This is one of the lightest Gore-Tex boots on the market.

I bought these boots for fast-packing the in the Adirondacks. When they arrive I was very impressed with the comfort and how light they are. They give tenacious grip on even the sketchiest terrain in a very confidence inspiring way. However... after only 7 summits (~50 miles) in the Santanonis and Sewards the boots are showing signs of heavy wear on the exterior fabric in the inner arch area of both boots. Once they wear through to the Gore-tex lining they will be trash. As a trail running boot (and I do tend to hike fast) I would have expected to get many more miles out of these before showing this kind of wear. So if you want a fast-packing boot for really rough terrain, you may want to look elswhere.

Get the right size! April 8, 2011

These boots are listed in Women's sizes first, then Men's. In other words, when I ordered a 9.5(M) I expected a 9.5 in Men's, but instead got 9.5 in Women's and 8 in Men's. I won't think this is Amazon's fault, but the description they got from the manufacturer is misleading. The return was very easy and Amazon has refunded me for the confusion. I love Inov-8 shoes and boots so this review is 5 stars because I'm sure I will love these too once I get the correct size ordered.

Very light all round great boots. I run in them and workout in them. My workout include insanity and asylum and more and they work amazing. Great boots .
