The Inova X5 LED floodlight is a superbly engineered tool that delivers exceptional performance and durability, for a lifetime of owner satisfaction. With this advanced light, form truly follows function. While other LED flashlights are little more than LED technology that's been force-fit into conventional products, the X5 is the result of an unrestricted flow of innovative, targeted engineering. Nothing is compromised or superfluous.

Every choice--in optics, electronics, materials, thermal and power management, durability and usability--is driven by performance criteria. Individual reflectors surround each of the five LED lamps recessed in the X5's patented stainless steel head. These powerful, shock-proof lamps project light up to 120 feet and operate from -30 to +60 degrees Celsius. The advanced lithium batteries included with the X5 generate up to 20 hours of light and have a shelf life of more than 10 years.

The X5 lights the way, emitting pure, wavelength-specific color. Its body is 4.75 inches of precision-machined aircraft aluminum clad in military-grade, Type III anodizing. Critical mating surfaces are held to + or - 0.0005 inch tolerances, and exact compression sealing locks out moisture. The waterproof X5 is crush-proof to over 2000 pounds--which is to say, it's practically indestructible

This light's patent-pending, three-mode switch cap enhances operation while ensuring waterproof integrity. The knurled cap, complete with lanyard hole, houses a non-slip, compression-sealed button. This smart, ergonomic design lets owners unleash the power of the X5 with one-handed control and prevents accidental activation in transport.

This is a terrific flashlight; incredibly well made and compact. I've given many away as gifts and just lost mine so am ordering another. The one I lost will turn up; I suspect it's been "borrowed" and it will work when it turns up regardless of how it may have been abused. It comes with a convenient elastic belt holster, but I usually put it in my pocket.

It is a "broad" or "flood" beam, not a spot. Inova makes others that are "spot" focused. It's very bright, and I know this reads as silly, but it really shines in the dark. If you compare this light to another in the dark, you'll really appreciate the difference in intensity over the width of the beam. It's the perfect light when the electricity is out and you find yourself walking around in the dark. The broad beam helps avoid tripping over things that are just in the periphery. And the broad beam is even so you won't find yourself moving or rolling the flashlight to look at something without the unevenness of an incandescent bulb.

If you like to work with a flashlight in your mouth, this isn't the one...it's small enough but just a tad too heavy and metallic to be comfortable for anything more than a few seconds. If this comment doesn't make sense, it doesn't apply to you.

The light will roll on a flat surface. Just an observation, not a complaint. I suspect you could drop it from 30 feet onto concrete and it would still work flawlessly.

When people see me using this light they ALWAYS ask about it and want one. The batteries last a long time and have a long shelf life so I buy them in bulk packs of 12 for the best price.

Because of the compactness, durability, brightness and long battery life, this is my preferred general purpose flashlight.

Got this light about 4 years ago from sharper image. Was really expensive back then. Still works great and battery life is very good. I have let my nephew take it into the bathtub to play with and the seals seem to hold up. I suggest you take it apart and let everything dry out after use underwater.

I really enjoy this flashlight. I purchased it after seeing my friend with one. The price is not too bad and it packs a punch for the size. I have not had it long enough to speak on the battery life, but my friend says it's not bad. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a functional flashlight that will leave everyone jealous asking what it is.

I bought my X5 several years ago when I was commuting a long distance and wanted a flashlight in the car I could depend on, no matter what. With the lithium cells having a 10-year shelf life and not much affected by cold, and the flashlight being solidly made, this looked to be ideal for an emergency light.
The only problem with the plan was that the X5 soon ended up a permanent resident of my pocket instead of the glovebox of the car. I find I use it often. It's small, handy, and powerful.

The only reasons I don't give it 5 stars are, it's completely round so it easily rolls off a table or wherever you lay it down, and the edges of the lanyard hole are sharp and look as though they might abrade a lanyard cord. The roll-off-a-table problem can be somewhat corrected by adding a lanyard of some type. I am currently trying a 1" diameter split metal ring through the lanyard hole. Because the hole is long relative to its diameter a D-ring would be better. A 1" round ring will fit, although it is not completely free to pivot. The ring, in addition to preventing rolling, also helps keep the light from sliding through my fingers.

This flashlight is bright, compact, and extremely durable. I bought one around 2004 from a Discovery store and since then, I have used it underwater, run it over with a pickup truck, and dropped it from a balcony. The most extreme conditions it endured were when I left behind in my car while evacuating from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. My car was completely submerged and it sat in there for around three weeks before I was finally able to recover it. Aside from some corrosion (beauty marks, in my opinion), it worked perfectly. Fast forward to 2011, and I still use it.

Note that it uses relatively difficult-to-find batteries, but RadioShack has them.

I had bought several of these in the past for myself and family as gifts. Inova makes some really well designed lights. They are built to last forever, but I lost a couple on the job. So I bought two more. They are really good and fit into my tool pouch holder where a "Mini Mag lite is made to fit. Only drawback is the special batteries they use, but you can buy them bulk at reasonable prices on the web.

Incredibly bright, long battery life, water resistant, and rock solid.

The LEDs are recessed into a piece of barstock that has had some flats machined onto it. Heavy threading at the join between the endcap and the body makes the junction almost as solid as the rest of this flashlight. The LEDs are very bright (not quite eye-damaging, but bright enough for old eyes trying to do delicate work), and being LEDs, allow for a very long battery life.

The batteries are a little expensive compared to AAs, but the advantages of this ligh far outweigh this one issue.

I've used one for years, and plan on using it for quite a while longer.
