Book Description

Charles Bronson is the most feared and the most notorious convict in the prison system. Renowned for serial hostage taking and his rooftop sieges, he is a legend in his own lifetime. Yet behind the crime and the craziness, there is a great deal more to Charlie. He is a man of great warmth and humour; a man of great artistic talent who exhibits his drawings around the country; and a man with an overpowering urge not to let the system get him down. "Insanity" is a look into the mind of a true individual - a wild, inspired, single-minded, fascinating man, oppressed not only by the workings of his singular mind, but also by the system that confines him.

About the Author

Owing to Charlie Bronson's somewhat confined conditions (ie. in a cage like Hannibal Lecter), it is difficult for him to get out and promote his book as he would want to. It doesn't seem to have harmed Bronson, however, which has sold well over 100,000 copies, perhaps because every time Charlie does something a bit nutty it ends up in every national newspaper... Charlie once kidnapped three Iraqis and threatened to eat them. He is now threatening to eat any bookseller who orders a less-than-substantial quantity of his new book. You have been warned...

this is such an interesting read frm start to finish i must say. we get to dive into the mind of one of the worlds most interresting and memorable prison inmates, charlie bronson aka the king of roofs. in this book you get to see the torture charlie endured in prison, also his many hostage takings, and see how unfair the system treated him. if you love this book, you should also check out 'bronson' starring tom hardy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book October 31, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This was the first book by Charles Bronson that I read, and I have to say just like his other books it did not let me down. He goes into great detail about his prison time and what he has went through. After reading this book it makes you think about him in a different way, a positive way. I easily give this book 5 stars and would recommend it to everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unforgettable January 5, 2015
By Eva
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's hard to believe a man could survive this many years of brutality and constantly being moved from prison to prison in mostly solitary confinement. No human being should have to endure this kind of treatment. And to receive a life sentence for hostage taking? Sad, heartbreaking true story.
