When High Society Goes Ghetto,
By The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Insatiable (Paperback)
Having things can bring a lot of happiness to one's life. But, when possessing those things becomes an obsession it can be fatal, especially when the object is a person. Face it, we all know or have heard of women who will stop at nothing to get and keep a man. They will use manipulation, threats, cheap tricks or anything handy to keep him. In INSATIABLE by Allison Hobbs, we get a look into a couple of extreme cases of obsession that pave the way for a confrontation with an eyeing-opening conclusion.
Terelle Chambers has lived all her life in the ghetto. She spent a good bit of it in foster homes and learning to fend for herself with no thanks to her mother. One of the bright spots in her life was her man, a philandering drug dealer named Marquise. He, unfortunately, landed in prison doing time on drug charges. Terelle then found herself pregnant with his child and living with her grandmother. As she waits on him, her dream is that they will eventually build a happy family life together, despite the advice of her best friend and relatives. How far will she go to keep the dream together? Terrell's total opposite is Kai Montgomery. Born the product of an interracial relationship, Kai is adopted by the Montgomery's, an affluent Caucasian couple. In an effort to provide a good life for Kai, they gave her everything. Outsmarted and rejected by a former lover, Kai resorts to some unbelievable and dangerous antics to help quench her abnormal sexual appetite. After one of her rendezvous lands her with a very sexy thug from the hood, she is hooked and vows to let nothing or no one come between them. Is she really ready to take her game to the ghetto? Allison Hobbs has written one electrifying and devilishly delicious tale about obsession at its worst, one where two women from very different worlds vie for the same man despite decency and common sense. I was riveted by this book until the wee hours of the morning, refusing to put it down. The two women's obsessions with one man gave me chills, but it was oh so real. I had to shake my head in disbelief a few times at the things they did in the name of love or `good' sex. When the two worlds collided, the outcome was stellar and very unimaginable. I even found the secondary characters just as engaging and memorable as the main ones. Ms. Hobbs, you did your thing in this one. For one delightfully exciting read, please check out Allison Hobbs' INSATIABLE. Reviewed by Brenda M. Lisbon of The RAWSISTAZ™ Reviewers

Fatal Obsessions,
By
This review is from: Insatiable (Paperback)
I sat for two days under the spell of "Insatiable" the latest novel by Allison Hobbs. I was glad this was a long holiday weekend, because I was not going anywhere untill the end of this story. Let me introduce you to Terell Chambers. Her mother a drug addict, could not care for her so as a child she was bounced around different foster homes. At present Terell is a mother in her twenties holding down a nursing assistant job. The high point in this young lady's life are her toddler and Marquise, her long time boyfriend and father to her daughter. Marquise is in prison on a drug charge and is about to be released. Terell can not wait for the day when her family will be complete. She is devoted to Marquise and only hopes he keeps is promise to get a decent job and leave his drug selling life behind.
Now meet Kai Montgomery. The bi-racial adopted daughter of a rich caucasian doctor and his wife. Brought up with the best of everything, Kai is only working as a social worker because her grandmother insist she do so in order to recieve her inheritance at age 25. Kai is attractive and sexy on the outside. But inside she is selfish, snobbish and cold. She will not even acknowledge her black heritage and has an insatiable sexual appetite. Kai and Terelle's worlds collide drastically with severe repercussions. I ask myself why are people so obsessed with each other? and why do women do such crazy things for the men in their lives? These questions I cannot answer. Ms Hobbs did a great job with this story line. She builds on the suspense at a good pace, and then kicked it up a notch! I loved the nursing home setting and Ms Hobbs was on point with all the activity that goes on there. The cover of this book has a nice rustic look to it. You won't believe the dynamic ending! Seems to me as if there maybe a sequel brewing. Kudos to you Ms Hobbs.

I have to admit this is her best book yet! If you thought Pandora's Box was a page turner wait until you read Insatiable.
This book is off the hook. I read the book in a few days and it was very hard to put down. The story focused on the lives of Terrell Chambers is a young single mother who is trying to make a living to support her daughter. Marquise is her long time boyfriend and daughter's father who was released from prison on house arrest. Marquise was in prison for selling drugs. Terrell hopes that Marquise will turn his life around and and leave the street life behind. Kai Montgomery is a social worker whose sexual appetite is hot as fire. Kai is the product of bi-racial parents but she will not acknowledge her heritage. Terrell's and Kai's worlds collide when they find themselves infatuated with the same man. The ending will truly surprise you. This book is an excellent read and will not leave you dissappointed. Dont be surprised if you are sneaking to read the book at work or trying to peep at a page while sitting at a stop light. Allison Hobbs did a wonderful job with this book. Her writing keeps the reader interested and wanting more. This is her best book yet!!! Lisa MaRie Philly African American Book CLub Philadelphia Pa email- heycamry98@aol.com

Allison Hobbs has done it again! I thought Pandora's Box was off the hook, and then I read Insatiable. Kai Montgomery should be labeled a "sex addict." Some of the unspeakable things she does just to get her rocks off is unbelievable. What happens to her at the end of the book is perfect!
Terelle Chambers... your heart goes out to her because you see her struggling to be a single mother and hold on to the man she loves. Yeah, he's a drug dealer and yeah, he's cheated and continues to do so, but she loves him. And he claims to love her just as much. She does get on your nerves a bit with her constant insecurity and thinking every woman is sleeping with her man, but it goes with the territory. I was really impressed with this book and I am eager to read Ms. Hobbs next book.

There are not enough stars to rate this racy, page-turner. Kai and Terelle are different any in every way except their taste in men.
Allison Hobbs has written about a subject most are familiar with: two women and one man. But she has taken the love triangle to another level and the results are explosive. I highly recommend Insatiable to anyone looking for an exceptionally good read.

Marquise is coming home! Marquise is coming home! Terelle, a young single mother, is overjoyed that her man and the father of her child is finally coming home after serving time on drug charges. She has waited two years for this day. Terelle spent that time struggling to keep her head above water by working herself to death to make a home for Marquise to return to. It's all worth it, isn't it? After all, Marquise upon his release has promised to work - legitimately - to take care of Terelle and their daughter. Gone will be the days of working overtime at her menial job, catching buses, and rushing to and from daycare. But once he has his freedom, will Marquise come through or were they just jail house promises? Will Terelle get her happily ever after? And what happens when Kai Montgomery - an insatiable woman who wants what she wants and will stop at nothing to get it - enters the picture?
2 women + 1 man = DRAMA, DRAMA, and more DRAMA Allison did a wonderful job with her portrayal of obsession, betrayal, love, and lust. I was sad to see it end. Strebor Books is really doing big things and this is just another for the win column. Good story. Good editing. What more can you ask for in a book?!?

Insane Diva meets Thug Charmer,
By
This review is from: Insatiable (Paperback)
I was enthralled by the first sentence because it captured a struggle we have all seen or experienced. From then on, I could not read the sentences fast enough. Every movement and reaction from the characters were honest and real. Allison Hobbs took her time and made INSATIABLE unforgettable.
Ex-con, Marquise had sensual street charisma which bonded Kai and Terrelle to him. Who did Marquise want? Terelle was the mother of his child and the love of his life; but Kai was sophisticated and rich. Both women were sexy. Terelle was the mother of their child and had waited through his prison term. Kai was a skillful nymphomanic. Was there a limit to what any of them would do to protect their future plans? I applaud Hobbs for these feisty characters and memorable action-packed episodes. Authors at a recent event tried to out talk each other in an effort to describe the exact details of favorite INSATIABLE moments. The characters evoked feelings of compassion and anger as I read about their desperation and hard-core love. Believe me when you think it's over, it isn't.

Insatiable
By: Allison Hobbs 4 stars Terelle Chambers grew up with a mother addicted to crack and shoved from one foster home to another. Terelle works long hours at the nursing home as a nurse's assistant and is raising her daughter solo, until her baby's daddy Marquise comes home from jail. Kai Montgomery is the bi-racial adopted daughter of a rich white couple. She hides the black side of herself and only dates white men. That is until her affair with a married doctor ends and she sets her sites on the new and very handsome Marquise that just started in Housekeeping Department. Terelle does her best to keep Marquise a family man and not let him return to the streets but she finds that Marquise was full of jailhouse promises and doesn't come home for days. Kai is a beautiful seductress; she is both insatiable and unstable. Marquise gives her the best loving she ever had and she will stop at nothing to keep Marquise hers and hers alone. Anytime two women compete for one man nothing good comes from it. This story had me flipping the pages. Hobb's has weaved a well-crafted fatal attraction with Insatiable. This was edgy, I was engrossed. Reviewed by Dawnny

WHEN A BIG D***GETS MORE THAN HE BARGAINS FOR......,

This review is from: Insatiable (Mass Market Paperback)
Terelle Chambers is a sweet and beautiful young girl who gives herself to one man and one man only. His name is Marquis. They met each other when they were kids because Terelle's mom was a crackhead and she moevd from foster home to foster home. Marquis gave her the love that she was missing.
He lives the hard knock life for real until he gets popped and has a do a bid. Terelle plays the role of his "down chick" holding him down in jail. She accepts all of his collect calls, buys him expensive jeans and sneakers, and didn't give his p**** away. She worked two jobs so that she could have a apartment for him to come home to and patiently awaited his return. Well, Marquis comes home and just like her friend warned her, the things he told her in jail were just jailhouse promises and he starts cheating again like the dog he always was. After Terelle sticks her neck out to get him hired at the nursing home she works at he catches the eyes of many of her messy female coworkers. He was handsome, rugged, and possessed a huge D*** that couldn't go unnoticed. One eye in particular was Kai Montgomery, the wealthy half-white adopted child of a rich white doctor. She was beautiful, classy, and deranged; a fatal attraction type chick. Marquis didn't that he would pay dearly for the rough d*** he gave her in exchange for lavish gifts and the privilege of wheeling her Benz, and Kai suffers the wrath of a black woman scorned. This book is GOOD. Cop it now before they sell out. Remember: Everything that glitters is definitely not gold.
