1.0 out of 5 stars Hayes Continues His Downward Spiral
With a frankness discussing sexuality not seen since Savage Garden's "Universe", Hayes' "Insatiable" sounds at first like the soundtrack to a [B movie]. Get past the breathy overacted intro, however, and you'll find the fare to your liking. That is, if you enjoy tired dance beats or unimaginitive and cliched lyrics, which is exactly what Sony/Columbia is spoon feeding...

There is nothing better than the gently seductive beauty of INSATIABLE.... except maybe SIX remixes of Darren Hayes' breath-takingly lovely solo song. The album version is the most incredible, and I believe, the most appropriate mix, but the diversified variety of remixes offers something for everyone. From the energetic sound of the second remix to the club sound of the fifth remix and the ultra dramatic sixth remix there is a world of difference. Yet INSATIABLE remains wonderful and awe-inspiring, no matter the mix.

A loving fan of Savage Garden, I instantly fell in love with Darren's Insatiable. The lyrics and original sound are just as beautiful as Darren's voice. The remixes are uniquely transformed into first a Caldorone Club Mix that leaves you wanting to turn up the volume and dance all night long. Then,The Pablo Larosa's Funktified Mix leaves you feeling lost in a dance club dream hearing Darren's voice . The Specificus 'Insomniac' Mix feels moody, dramatic, and slowly builds throughout. The 'dp vesus Darren Hayes' Mix just keeps it moving right along , at first just the beat and melody alone take you in. Then once again his voice just takes over mixed with a beautiful melody. The ending speeds up just enough to prepair you for the finale~ The Specificus 'Let It Go' mix not only takes a song filled with lyrics that are both romantic and erotic, but it adds a sound that will take what is left of your breath away. Hearing Darren's voice singing ''Let It Go''with the haunting melody in the backround takes you into a dreamland. Added to that the lyrics, ''Breath in,breath out,I've let it go''....will leave you hypnotized and dizzy. It's seductive & enchanting. Much like Darren himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars GWM Seeks Insatiable Singer :), August 27, 2002

I should say that I love Darren Hayes as a musician - which I do, I really do! But the man's also dead sexy, and this song works it, both in its original ballad version and the excellent remixes here. If Darren already makes your body temperature rise, the hot and heavy "Let It Go Mix" may put you in the hospital. Have mercy! Let it go? Just tell me where and when, Darren. I'll be there. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant, February 3, 2002

Darren does it again! The original version of Insatiable is a work of art in itself, steaming with beauty, sincerity, emotions and of course love. The remixes offer a different view of the song and makes you appreciate it even more. Calderone Club Mix is nicely done, slowly building up the song to its full potential. Pablo Larosa's Funktified Mix has a nice beat, which is a good thing becuase it's around 10 min. long. The background music works nicely with Darren's vocals. Specificus 'Insoniac' Mix is definately my favorite remix of the song. It gives it a nice, loose, very sexy feel mingled in with the sounds of the guitar and Darren's beautiful voice. 'dp versus Darren Hayes' Mix is a nice remix giving it a hyped up, pumped up dance floor appeal. Specificus 'Let It Go' Mix is my second favorite remix. It's nicely done focusing on one part of the song than the others, offering it a spacey appeal that makes you keep listening to it again and again. This is a great CD though it only has one song in truth if you think about it. Anyway, if you like Insatiable, then this is the one for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars ~!~Insatiable~!~, February 2, 2002

This review is from: Insatiable (Audio CD)
If you liked Savage Garden you'll love Darren's solo career. Insatiable is a mildly slow song. The lyrics are so well written. So here's my track by track rating:

Insatiable (5:12)- Darren truly has the voice of an angel. His range is great. There's orchestra like backround music. It is in the backround though. First you hear his voice then the percussion. Then the backround music. I like the album version better than any of the remixes.

Calerone Club Mix (9:52)- Th music in the beginning has a totally danceableness to it. The first vocal is 1:23 in the song but it's just ooh's yeah's and insatiable's. The real singing comes in at 3:04. The end is like the begining.

Pablo Larosa's Funktified Mix (6:38)- It starts out just percussion. The music is pretty cool and defenatly funktified. It ends like the album version with different music.

Specificus Insomniac Mix (5:57)- It has different percussion but the same backround music until the singing starts. Then it get's an insomniac feeling.

Dp Versus Darren Hayes Mix (5:48)- Darren helped to mix this one. Half way through the first verse they have a little music break. There's alot more echo on the bridges, that's the part right before the chorus.

Specificus Let It Go Mix (5:07)- It starts with UFO sounding music. Then it adds drums but it still sounds spacey. This is the Let It Go mix because Darren starts off saying let it go before the song. The song is jumbled up and some of the words get cut off and start again in weird places. This is the strangest sounding remix.

The lyrics could be considered to sexual("we practice love between these sheets")for little kids. But there's no cussing. I can't wait until the album Spin comes out on March 15th. Until then if you want to sample Darren Hayes solo music I suggest this and the other part of the single. Go Darren !

5.0 out of 5 stars I just love this song!, March 22, 2002

"Insatiable" is the new song from Darren Hayes, better yet known as the lead singer of the Australian Pop duo group, Savage Garden. I had only recently heard that he'd broken up with Savage Garden, and was going off on his own for a solo career. But I'm glad he did--Darren truly does have the voice of an angel. His perfectly-pitched vocals are the best I've heard from a guy since Brian Littrell's of the Backstreet Boys. "Insatiable" is a mature, yet sexy midtempo. I've heard him perform it live (okay, so he performened it in a radio station studio, but still), and he is quite a performer! I'm a fan of Savage Garden, and Darren Hayes does just as well on his own. I love this CD-Single. The remixes are very cool and each of them are unique. I can't wait to buy Darren Hayes's solo debut album, SPIN. Darren Hayes is back and better than ever--with or without Savage Garden. This CD-Single is a must own if you love his new song!

5.0 out of 5 stars Desirable, insatiable, wonderful!, February 6, 2005

This review is from: Insatiable (Audio CD)
What a sensual song! I heard this the first time on TV some time ago on one of the music channels I was flicking through and I just had to buy it as I liked it so much.

Darren Hayes has a really unusual voice, it puts you on edge, makes you feel dreamy and kind of sleepy but in a nice way.

I love the lyrics, especially as they are very subtle in their sexiness.

This is smoochy romantic song for all the lovers in the world, a good buy for Valentine's Day now that I think about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars But I thought Michael Jackson sang this at first hearing., February 5, 2005
This review is from: Insatiable (Audio CD)
That is what happens when you hear something in the background. I originally heard this song playing somewhere and thought it was Michael Jackson, especially through the chorus.
I picked up this single in order to sell it but I needed to test it becasue the disc had some blemishes and I wanted to test it for any problems. The only "problem" I had was that I really liked it and now may not sell it.
In it's original form the song is great. Romantic and sexy come to mind when I hear it. It has a plesant feel and sound.
Now for the remixes: Unlike some maxi single, the remixes tend to get monotonous and boring. Calderone's mix is the one I think I heard in the background when I first heard this. The remix does not come off as someone just trying to "milk it" for a long time, it seems balanced between music and vocal. The same seems to be the case for the versions. Also, the song sits well with all of it's renderings, as if anyone on the them could have been the original version except perhapt the Let It Go mix, this mix is basically a dub. Agian, it is creative and makes for a good alternate mix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Darren and Vic Calderone, January 4, 2005

All EDITS COMPLIMENTS of "CD NOW"
What a team....what a song...what a REMIX. This song is now a tad on the older side, however when I do listen to it, on a Cd I have made from the past, I get a great feeling inside. Victor Calderone is just about one of the best mixers around. cetering to the Straight and Gay Club community. This is a MUST if you are a D.H. fans, as well as a Calderone fanatic, as he has worked with just about every HUGE name star there is. His mixing ability adds so much depth, and allows you to keep your feet tapping and singing along as this mis is FULL VOCALS with that typical GREAT Calderone edge of drop off's and then a MASSIVE build up. It is GREAT. Sorry If I am edited out, since the words "Not so straight" sound silly CD Now does not like the word "G.." BUT that is how life is, in a world where THAT word in in the dictionary, and accepted by "most" people, at least you the reader, AND consumer, know where to drop the $$$$ for a monster Club driven Anthem. Hope this is of help in your decision process, this Maxi CD is excellent Jason Prof DJ

This review is from: Insatiable (Audio CD)
The original album version is just breathtaking, with sexy lyrics and sang by the sexy unique touching voice of Darren Hayes. The other five remixes are very unique on its on, I especially like the remixes done by Specificus, when listening to the Insomniac Mix it feels like it has taken you to a twilight zone, and the Specificus Let It Go Mix, those percussion and drum beats, with Darren's voice at the background just sets you heart pounding!! I personally don't like remixes, but this remix single is just an exceptional one!!
