This product served the purpose. I wanted to introduce my 3 year old to the butterfly life cycle. It did a great job with that. I was surprised at the additional charge to order the caterpillars, though. It was only $3, but I didn't read anything about the extra charge before I ordered the kit. Another small complaint I have is that there was nothing included to attach the cocoons to the inside of the tent. The instructions say to use safety pins, which weren't included. I didn't have any so I just laid them on the floor of the tent and that worked fine.
Overall, a good kit and a good value.

Very educational and fun for kids, but the attachment of the pupa inside the butterfly house was not thought out, they should have used a sticky tape or a pin!

I have used this product for the past 3 years. My kids love watching the caterpillars go throught the process to become a butterfly. I have always used the bungalow for my kids personally.....all 3 caterpillars turned into butterflies. Very easy to use and a huge success in my house!!

My children and I have purchased and enjoyed one of these kit in the past. The other housing we had was bigger so we received more caterpillars with it - understandable. I had such a good time with my two older kids I felt my third child needed to experience the project as well. I used it as a homeschool science project and incorporated drawings of the life cycle and numerous butterfly themed papers to complete off of the internet. There's nothing like watching and observing the real thing. The caterpillars were healthy and quickly grew. It's a simple process to care for them. In fact, we had a busy summer schedule and I was worried about the maintenance but other than observation and a handful of days of providing sugar water sprinkled over flower petals, it really was a breeze. We sent them on their way in our sunflower garden. I'm definitely pleased!

I am very pleased with the Butterfly kits I ordered. They arrived within five days. The kits were just the right size for my classroom. My caterpillars arrived within one week. I found everything I needed included and with simple directions. My students truly enjoyed watching the cycle of the Butterfly, as did I. I have already recommended this site to many friends at work. Thank you for making my science experiment so successful!

After spending $20 bucks for the cage you have to dish out more money for the larva. I was pretty disappointed with that.

I HAVE A BUTTERFLY GARDEN AND IT IS SO MUCH FUN TO BRING IN CATERPILLARS AND WITNESS THE MIRACLE OF THE LIFE CYCLE !!

What happens to a butterfly is not for the faint of heart. That being said the educational value of this bungalow is really fantastic. All 3 butterflies made it to the crysalis stage. But only 2 emerged. One seemed to get stuck and die. Really great for my kids though. Would recommend this especially to Urban families who don't see a lot of nature.

Insect Lore is un-truthful - The whole thing is neat and fun but Insect Lore, the manufacturer is full of butterfly gunk. They said on the box you get 5 butterfly larve. In reality you get "3 to 5" which in reality is 3. You talk to them and complain and they say even though the box says "you get 5" they reserve the right to mail out "3-5" instead. How is that even legal??? Liars/con-men/whatever. I am just thankful my daughter enjoyed the lower amount she was sent.
